1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING Free firewood for use during your stay and can make a good deal if you want to take some home! As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful.

The Green Cabin
Me and my partner LOVED the green cabin! perfect escape from the texas heat! It had everything we need to stay happy and clean! Fritz was so sweet and you can tell he is just happy to share his beautiful land!

The Ladder Swimming Hole
Heaven in the Hill Country
This is one of those occasions where I don't want to leave a review because it won't be as easy to reserve this campsite once word gets out about how amazing it is. The Ladder Swimming Hole campsite is one of the best spots in the Hill Country for camping. We camped here on the hottest weekend of the summer and it was great regardless of the heat. The massive trees provide so much shade and the water is so cool and inviting. We will definitely camp here again. Hopefully, we can get a reservation. Thank you, Fritz, for opening your beautiful ranch to us.

Relaxation Destination
This is a beautiful site! Not only does the water have the most perfect hue, the fish gleam with majestic colors as well. The sounds of nature and the lack of cell service make it the perfect place to unwind.

10 out of 10 would recommend!
Fritz ranch is amazing! The views are better than you will see in most parks and natural areas you can visit. Fritz is kind and understanding. Pro tip: don’t go after dark lol. Once you get to the end of the caliche road you will come up on a private land gate. The road goes right. Take the right and continue following it about 1/2 a mile, his cabin is on the right like in the directions, but it’s elevated and back off the road. It’s easy to miss in the dark!

Even better than described! Fritz was a wonderful host and so generous to allow us use of his beautiful property. We enjoyed over-landing, swimming, hiking and exploring. It is private and peaceful and the view from The Ridge was incredible!
