1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING Free firewood for use during your stay and can make a good deal if you want to take some home! As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have approximatley 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls 3. What we call the big pond which has the beginnings of a zip line if i can re-engineer how i have it tied on the opposite bank..right now its not high enough on the opposite bank. The goal is to zip line from one bank to the opposite and drop into the water...about 150 ft. It may or may not stay once we try it out...dont anyone getting hurt...But I think zip lines are a blast and we need to do a few rope swings into the water too! The Ladder Swimming Hole
Ladder Swimming Hole
The place was great. We stayed at the Ladder Swimming Hole site. As the name states, there was a ladder down to the ice cold river that you could swim in. We explored the rest of the ranch and the ridge campsite looked amazing.

The Ridge
Overlanders Delight.
We stayed up on the ridge at Laf Ranch. Beautiful scenery with several water crossings to get there. Our overland trip for the night was awesome. Heard many animal “calls” throughout the night. Sunrise was just the icing on the cake. I would definitely come back!

The Ridge
A fully immersed, 360 degree, remote, nature experience. The incredible views, the sounds, it is the total package. This site is fully remote, bring everything you think you may need. If you want fully remote and no people, you can have it…. If you want to check out Kerrville, bandera, and other towns, they are not far away. We are planning our second trip.

The Green Cabin
Perfect camping experience
Fritz land was absolutely gorgeous. It had some unique and private campsites. The road to the property was a fun experience itself crossing several shallow river crossings. Staying at the green cabin was like taking a step back in time with all its rustic characteristics. Taking a dip in the swimming holes with our dogs was one of the funniest parts. With no main road for miles, it makes for the ultimate peaceful camping experience.

The Ladder Swimming Hole
We absolutely loved camping at the ladder. It was beautiful, very private, and really let us get away from it all. The swimming hole was crystal clear, and we really enjoyed snorkeling around it to check out the fish. We're already looking forward to visiting again!
