Located just 2 miles off I-10, 8 miles to the West of Sierra Blanca, and 80 miles South/South-East of El Paso. This property is truly a part of the "OLD WEST". Sierra Blanca was named after Sierra Blanca Mountain, just North-West of town. The town came into existence when competing railroads for a second (Southern) transcontinental railroad line came within 10 miles of one another in 1881. Jay Gould, famous railroad magnate and robber baron, drove a silver spike commemorating the event on Dec. 15th 1881. The town sprang up around that spot, although the population didn't reach 350 people until 1914. It is best described as grazing land that is flat to slightly sloping terrain covered with desert sagebrush and grasses. No shade, toilets (bring your own), or other amenities are provided at this time but are in the works. Sierra Blanca has mild winters and very hot summers but the desert can get cold at night. The weather is generally sunny but come prepared for changing conditions. This is not a commercial campground. Site is great for large groups. Larger RVs have trouble turning or parking so please no rvs over 26 ft. Bring your own toilet. Wildlife include rabbits and hares, javelina, woodcock, teal, sandhill crane, quail, pronghorn, mule deer, duck, dove, rattlesnake, rails, gallinules, and moorehens, toads and a variety of lizards.We are not a commercial campground. Primitive campsites offer nice views, amazing starry sky, solitude, and a small flat space to set up camp next to your vehicle. Currently the road has been washed away some so no rv camping at this time. No shade, toilets, or other amenities are provided. Private and affordable

Conveniently located off the highway. It was a minimalist site, private from other campers, perfect for an easy, affordable spot to sleep on a roadtrip. The camping spots are a little hard to locate even with the directions and pictures, as it’s a big property and you drive down several long dirt roads past a trailer etc. There is a fair amount of wind blown litter as you’d expect for a roadside location.

Annie’s outpost is in the brush desert. You can see the highway a couple miles away. You can see him couple hundred foot tall cell tower a mile or so away. For my style of camping and traveling this place was great. There were trash, cans and multiple fire pits. I would not take any vehicle there unless it was a high clearance vehicle. Midsize SUV or larger. Forget anything like an RV. 100% with stay again. Just know what you’re getting into. T-Mobile service was great. Plenty of downed wood, or I should say down brush for a fire.

This was a beautiful and peaceful spot. Close to i10 but mostly pin drop quiet, unlike the very noisy nearby rest stops. Safe for female travelers and Anna Mae was super helpful and responsive. We'd stay here anytime we're passing through.

Annie’s Outpost

This was perfect for what I needed. An easy spot to pull into at sunset (and great big sky for it!). I don't think I'd want to drive an RV or large trailer in on the road... it was a bit more rutted than expected. Quite dusty with the wind and a little hard to determine where the 3 sites were, but there was one other very friendly camper there that night and we chatted about that confusion and ultimately navigated it fine. Would camp here again if I was passing through.

Affordable, convenient!

We had a great time car-camping at Anna's Outpost! The road was a bit rough due to recent rains, but passable in our low-slung SUV. The campsites are rustic, but we were still able to pull right in and had a nice, quiet night under a bright canopy of stars. The highway is nearby, but was quiet and was actually pretty to watch from the distance. AT&T didn't have great service despite a cell tower being within sight, but other carriers may fare better. Recommended!
