Site 2 - Star Haven
Stars and calm
This is a rustic camping site. But if you don’t kind that. The place is remote, calm, and perfect in spring when I experienced it.
As a remote worker and djembe drummer at a beginner level, I could do both without bothering anybody.
If one read the directions properly, it’s not that difficult to get to the spot. It is better to arrive by day light the first time.
I will definitely return when back in that part of the USA.

This host should update the mileage
Well, we never stayed there, so we can't really review... But... On Google maps it looked to be about 5-6 miles, but when the directions to the site came back, it was 11 miles, so we decided to stay somewhere else that was closer to the road... The exact mileage should be updated so people don't waste time and money...

Arrive in day, fuel up!
Great dark skies, an incredible and remote site. Do NOT attempt to arrive at night!!!

Camping under the dark skies
The site was great! It was beautiful and so peaceful. We got great pictures of sun rise and spectacular views of sunsets. I believe it was a perfect place to stay outside of Big Bend! Thank you so much for sharing your place with us!!

No outhouse, flat tire, and shale
The host was helpful with dirrections. The site was far out of Terlingua. Over 10 miles off the highway on rough gravel roads. The road was rough enough to puncture one of my tires. The campsite no longer has an outhouse. The site was on top of a shale rock plateau. Metal tent pegs bend and plastic ones can not penetrate the shale. If you can get a tent peg pounded in then they do not have good holding strength against the winds. We were not able to use a tent for our two nights there. Star watching was good for the first night but it was too cloudy the second night. We also had a noisy ranch truck driving back and forth by the camp at 2am. I am not able to recomend this site and will not be returning. An outhouse would be the most needed inprovement. I would also suggest rebar tie anchors to provide campers with secure tie points.
