CAMPSITE DETAILS: You are invited to enjoy a portion of a newly acquired mountain retreat nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains with Private Lake Access! It is a humble beginning with less than half an acre of newly excavated steep mountain terrain but it is easily accessible from Foothills Parkway near Townsend and Maryville, Tennessee. The main attraction is relaxing and having fun at the community manmade lakes such as the 50 acre Lake in the Sky. The private Top of the World Community Recreation Area has a beach with Adirondack chairs, boat ramp, horseshoe poles, and a basketball court. On school days during the week, you may be the only one(s) there! The campsite itself is a mere gravel parking area at the foot of our steep property next to a road. We have a mulched tent site next to the gravel parking area. Refer to many more site details listed next to the Tent Site entry such as newly added rainwater flushable toilet house. Unavailable during winter months. If you need pavement with RV hookups then check out the newly renovated Great Smoky Mountains National Park Look Rock Campground just up the hill, but they do not provide private lake access of course. You are invited to enjoy a portion of a newly acquired mountain retreat nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains with Private Lake Access! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The camping area itself is just a place to spend the night or hang out in between excursions. It is assumed that you will be out on the lakes or exploring the numerous natural attractions in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park during the day. Lakes are not viewable from the campsite. - The nearest lake from the campsite is Holiday Lake which is about 0.2 miles down the hill on Flats Road. Holiday Lake is basically a serene pond with a gazebo. - The main Lake in the Sky Recreation Area is only about 2 miles down Flats Road from the campsite. It has a large sandy beach area with other recreation activities. - The campsite is also not far from Abrams Creek fishing and picnic area in Happy Valley. - There is a wheelchair accessible restroom nearby at the Look Rock picnic area but it closes at dusk. - Rental proceeds are for property upkeep such as grading the gravel driveway to stop the erosion. - If not looking for lake access, you may want to try the nearby National Park Service’s newly renovated and paved Look Rock Campground with RV hookups. - If you have a small trailer, I recommend "Jeff H,s Lake in the Sky" Airbnb site instead. - OFF GRID! You may want to look up Townsend and Wears Valley restaurants/cafes before you get out of your cellular service area. Nearest restaurants are Snoring Bear Cafe in Walland and Apple Valley Cafe in Townsend. - More info about Top of the World Community: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_of_the_World,_Tennessee Feedback about how the descriptions met your expectations appreciated. Many details and photos have been provided to give a realistic expectation. Priced the base rate as low as possible for all vacationers, then listed many extras such as household electric, extra water, pop-up tent, etc for those desiring more amenities. REALITY/DISCLAIMERS - The amenities at the Top of the World community are for homeowners and their guests only. Guests need to carry renter’s proof from the owner with them. Private means less crowded though :o) - No gasoline powered engines on the lakes. Only electric motors allowed. But that makes for a quieter time for paddlers! - When at the campsite, renters must stay on or next to the lower gravel driveway. Do not stray into the woods, not only for your safety, but you will immediately be on our next-door neighbors’ private property. - The owner’s friends and family may be using the camping area at the top of the property. Please respect their privacy. - This campsite is not recommended for small children. There is a steep drop off to the road just past the camping area. - No loud parties. This is a quiet community (except for the occasional loud vehicle driving by). If we get complaints from the neighbors, we may have to stop hosting this important location. - Sorry not allowing campfires anymore. - Please check weather conditions before you come. Weather can change rapidly and the mountains can have severe storms. If storms are inevitable the day of your stay then contact the host. - Most likely no cellular service. You may need to drive back up to the Foothills Parkway overlooks to get a signal. - You should print or take snapshots of this information before you begin your travels because you will be off-grid and may not have cell phone coverage. - Parking location is next to a road. Usually few cars drive by after 10pm though. - Campsite quiet time is 10pm to 8am for the sake of our neighbors. - On school days there may be bus engine noise in the early morning. - Wild turkeys frequently walk through the property as well as other wildlife. - Please Leave No Trace and practice the same policies as the National Park Service. - No hunting at the Top of the World community nor in the national park. - If hanging a hammock make sure it does not damage the tree bark or limbs. - Keep garbage locked up. Garbage kills bears. (Once they are labeled as a nuisance bear they are removed.) No garbage can remain at the campsite until checking out. - Swimming and boating activities are at your own risk. - Currently keeping rental stays to one week but repeat campers with an excellent record can contact the host for longer stays.

Top of the World Lake Access
GREAT, CONVENIENT SPOT FOR A TENT!!
Finding this site was a complete blessing! Don't be afraid that we are the first ones to camp here. She's got everything you need and it's a great spot! You won't regret it. She was very great with communication, made sure my husband and I had everything we needed and made sure our spot was comfortable. This was just a pit stop on our way to DC and honestly if we pass through this way again, I'll book again because it was the perfect spot and nice and convenient for us. Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness as well as communication! You were great!!
