Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Just a short turn off from the Great Eastern Drive between Triabunna and Swansea, with easy access to Maria Island and Freycinet National Park, Kanyini Camp is a beautiful and serene piece of land backing on Butlers Ridge Nature reserve with sweeping country views. We are one of only a few farms on a no through road and offer a unique experience of peace and serenity while being close to some of the major attractions the East Coast of Tasmania has to offer. We are located only a 10 minutes drive to one of the most beautiful (secret) beaches in Tasmania and 15 minutes drive to Triabunna where the ferry departs for Maria Island. We live on site (a few acres away across the rivulet) and are delighted to offer 10 opportunities for self-contained campers to camp on our private land and share our passion for the area. This is a leave no trace property that suits self-contained campers who bring everything they need and remove everything they bring. Well behaved dogs and humans are all welcome. We are farmers and this property is where we live and work. Please respect our requirement for self-contained campers only. This includes caravans and campervans with toilets on board. If you have a camper trailer with portable ensuite tent and toilet, please contact us PRIOR to making the booking. Very easy to find & to access, including easy turn around area for 2WD vehicles, camper trailers, campervan and caravans. We Only Accept Self-Contained vehicles WITH TOILETS, NO TOILET NO ENTRY thank you 🙏🏼 A tranquil paddock at the feet of a mountain range with sweeping country views and a secret beach less then 10 minutes drive. You can have it all at Kanyini Camp. This campsite for self-contained campers is still the best kept secret of the East Coast and with a bit of luck, you will have it for yourselves. Previous guests describe their stay at Kanyini Camp as a peaceful and serene experience and keep coming back. From there, you can explore the best this part of the world has to offer. Tasmanian's jewel Maria Island, award winner fish and chips van in nearby seaside village Triabunna, many walks and local beaches; all a short drive away. We are a French Australian couple and love meeting new people. We chose to settle in this part of the world after living on the road traveling around Australia in an expedition truck for 3 years and we are so happy to be able to give back, share our local knowledge and answer any question you may have.  BYO firewood and enjoy a campfire under the stars while spotting some wallabies and maybe even the famous Tasmanian devil. In summer, please ask us PRIOR to having a fire and we will discuss if the conditions are right. ALWAYS PUT OUT YOUR FIRE WITH WATER AT NIGHT. You shouldn’t see any embers when poked with a stick. The nearby paddocks are our neighbours livelihood and a grass fire would be a catastrophe. Thank you for your understanding. We have no facility to offer other than nature, peace of mind that you won't be disturbed and our hospitality. We are farmers and this property is where we live and work. Please respect our requirement for self-contained campers only. This includes caravans and campervans with toilets on board. If you have a camper trailer with a portable ensuite tent and toilet, you will need to install it as soon as you arrive at camp, even if it’s just for one short night. No exceptions. Thank you 🙏🏼 All well behaved humans and pets welcome. Please pick up after your dog and do not leave toilet paper or rubbish in the paddock. You are welcome to let your grey water run on the ground as long as you use exclusively earth friendly products. We have sheep in this paddock in winter and any chemical you drop on the land they will eat in the grass. This means earth friendly dishwashing product, soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and any other washing product. Thank you. Finally, please do not empty the content of your caravan cassette behind the tall grass. We had this happening twice and it was not fun to pick up.

Outstanding quiet campsite

Florence the host was very welcoming and she provided lots of great information on where to go. She even provided a comprehensive guide via email prior to our arrival. The campsite is level and roomy and even with the maximum 12 sites in use, it is still spacious. The only issue is getting through the main gate to the campsite with a large 22ft van like ours, as it’s a bit tight. It was lovely to see all the wallabies congregate on the campsite at dusk, and being a couple of km off the Tasman Highway, there is no road noise.
