Once part of A large plantation, then deemed as the "Poor Farm" where the sharecroppers lived as local lore goes. The property was obtained by my father in the 1980's, he used it as an escape from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. He raised horses, cattle and buffalo here until he retired. Now the Old Road Plantation is being re energized as an equestrian facility with camping as well as being a working ranch in the heart of the South.

I was placed at one out of six apparent sites and while close to the bathroom, the space was very uneven, horse poop everywhere, and no firewood (which listing said was available). I scrounged up some dead branches and managed a comfy little fire, against the odds.

Burn pit. Gracious hosts! Was able to stay close to beach without having to shell out hotel prices. Would return! First experience on HIPCAMP was a success!
