335 acres of undulating rainforest and eucalyptus forest bordering the Condamine River within the Cambanoora Gorge. 4WD access required.
The property has a huge array of wildlife species including the beautiful and rarely seen platypus and lyre bird.
We prefer campers to have their own amenities and leave no trace, however, I am building a toilet block. if you do not have your own (please BYO toilet paper).
Dog friendly.
I welcome people to visit my art studio by donation. I've been sculpting for over 25 years specialising in extinct animals including taxidermy of some of Australia's rarest marsupials.
Camps have 1000m of river frontage (access through the gate or fence) flanked by beautiful hoop pine trees and river oaks. Toilets facilities will are under construction.

Booyong campsite is a serene escape by the Condamine River, offering spacious and well-maintained sites that are perfect for unwinding. Campers appreciate the lush, grassy areas, the peaceful sound of the creek, and the privacy between sites. The host, Paul, is frequently praised for his helpfulness and local insights, enhancing the overall experience. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention minor challenges like tricky access points or ants, yet the overall sentiment remains highly favorable.
Such a lovely campsite, spaced out well, creek/river is lovely to cool down in, peaceful, lots of birds & butterflies, but the star was watching the platypus frolic. Definitely recommend Booyong & hopefully I’ll see inside Paul’s art studio next time.
Thanks, Paul, for the hospitality. Lovely level, green but tidily slashed site with direct river access through a gate. We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet and sitting in the cool gushing river. We need a longer stay next time to explore the area a bit!
Paul is a great bloke shows you how to get bait tells you your options on the travels, brings you fire wood. I'd recommend him and his camping spot. Cheers Paul sorry I didn't come up and say goodbye but we will back in the near future.
Great place to camp. Was quiet (apart from the cows 😀 ), private and relaxing. Paul was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. We stayed at site 4 right on the rivers edge. We'll be back for sure!!
Great site, really private and right on the river. Saw Finches, Rosellas and Parrots,Platypus and Wallabys.
Paul the host was helpful and friendly. The best hipcamp I have been to. Will be coming back
I’ve come here once before when the weather was perfect and had no dramas. In regular weather, crossings are low, easy, and fun. Campsites are beautiful anywhere on the property with amazing views.
Paul is a great guy. Unfortunate weather when we came down spoiled the trip somewhat but I can’t blame that on the host. He was very accomodating. Rivers were up when we left (nearly a metre) so had a fun time navigating that !! If you plan to come during severe rains, have a serious 4wd (Land Cruiser, patrol, or something with big lift) or huge balls (like me in my little triton).
