We have 104 acres along the Allegheny river that we are willing to share with people who enjoy the outdoors. My husband and I, have been living here for twenty years and just enjoy the beauty this valley has to offer. We see bald eagles everyday, and every once in while some otters can be seen playing in the river.
Black Fox Island is visible downstream and provides a pool in the river that is a mile long. A person can easily paddle upstream; when the river is at normal summer levels.
Over 100 years ago, this was an industrial area with railroads, deep mines, strip mines, and gristmills. Some remnants of those times are still visible.
Paddling, biking, walking, fishing and swimming are some of the activities to do here, but doing nothing and watching the river go by seems to be the most popular.Come drive or paddle to our serene campsites along the Allegheny River. Enjoy one of our two spacious campsites, including river access for kayaks, canoeing, fishing, or swimming. This is a great stop-over destination if you are coming by canoe or kayak (mile marker 78). Take a hike or bring your bicycles to ride on country roads or the local bike trails (within a ½ hour drive). We have fantastic sunsets from our small beach area, which can be used for sunbathing or stargazing. Bring your tent and camping gear to enjoy nature; bald eagles, deer, beavers, turtles, etc. Each site is designed for 1-6 people and 1-2 average size tents. Picnic tables, fire rings, and a shared port-a-potty (maintained regularly) are included. No electric or garbage available at this time -take out what you take in. Firewood and ice are available for fee. Some of the outdoor attractions in the area include the Allegheny Valley Bike Trail, the Armstrong Bike Trail, the Red Bank Creek Bike Trail, the Rt 66 Bike Trail, Allegheny National Forest, Cook Forest State Park, and Oil Creek State Park.
