The property includes a 34X24 pavilion, a swing set, a fire pit, a portapotty, a porch swing, picnic tables, etc. It is located directly on the West Branch of the Conococheague Creek. You can enjoy kayaking, fishing, being right on the creek, and peace and quiet. There is also a mowed section along the creek that allows you easy access to the water with a small rock-style beach. The land is pretty much all flat and you can pitch a tent/s anywhere. There is plenty of room to park a camper/rv in multiple locations. This property is the perfect place to get away but close enough to town to enjoy local restaurants/amenities. It is only 1 mile away from Historic Downtown Mercersburg, which has bars, restaurants and stores to buy anything you may need. *Please No Fireworks*Sit back and relax in our peaceful creek side oasis located in South Central Pa. Shelly's Woods is secluded and quiet but only one mile away from historic downtown Mercersburg. If town is not for you, stay put and enjoy the many features Shellys Woods provides. The property is bordered by 250 yards of the West Branch of the Conococheague Creek, a perfect spot for kayaking and fishing. Bass, Trout, Chubs, and Crayfish can be caught in abundance. The creek is easily accessible; with a large mowed section and a small rock beach. Above the creek is a large 34X24 pavilion with 6 picnic tables. There is also a swing set and a bench swing set up about 15 yards from the creek bank. A fire pit with chairs and another picnic table is located next to the swingset. The land is nestled in a hollow that is full of very large shag bark hickory, walnut, and sycamore trees. There are 2 acres of land and a stream that can be explored. You will be the only person/people there. I will only rent it out to one person/group/family at a time. Wildlife is abundant, hawks, owls, waterfowl, deer, turkey, and other game species are frequent visitors. If you do want to leave camp there are restaurants, bars, convenience, and grocery stores all within a mile. Whitetail Ski Resort is only 15 minutes away. There is golfing, snowboarding, tubing, skiing, dining, and a large wedding venue located there. Hagerstown and Greencastle are only 20-25 minutes away and offer other shopping opportunities. We took over the land in Spring 2023. It's our hope to be able to offer this space for others to enjoy for years to come. For events larger than 8 people an extra charge will be added to the total. Please specify how many people will be in your group. This property is weather-dependent and has flooded in the past due to being located directly next to the creek. If we feel that the property will be impacted by severe weather we will notify you so you can make other reservations. The chances of this happening are very slim, but there is always that possibility.

My family & friends had a great time enjoying this campsite! Our dogs had plenty of space to roam around. There’s a beautiful creak to sit by & enjoy all the views! The hosts were great & very helpful. This was our second time staying here, would recommend!

Adding To My List

My friends and I very much enjoyed camping at Shelly's Woods this past weekend. The site is spacious, with lots of flat ground to pitch tents or park an RV on. It's also right on the creek, which was also quite lovely. The on-site porto was also nice to have. We didn't use it, but the pavilion would surely come in handy for large gatherings and shelter out of any rain. Shelly's Woods will most certainly be on my short list of go-to Hipcamp sites, particularly since it's only about 2 hrs. (or less, depending on traffic) from DC.

Great stay by the creek.

Shelly’s woods is a great place! The creek is a great way to cool off! My family went camping here and one of us had a medical emergency. Daniel was very kind and compassionate with our situation when we had to leave early. If you come in the fall time be careful of the walnuts. They are no joke! Luckily Daniel gave us the heads up beforehand so we knew what to expect.

Creek side with amenities!

The property was spacious and very well taken care of! The site is also very private, but sometimes doesn’t feel like it with the cars passing by on the main road. Being right on the creek helps mitigate the traffic sound though and makes for amazing sleep. And having the port-o-potty and pavilion with tables and chairs is a real camping luxury. Our second time renting the space, and definitely won’t be the last.
