The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Miles of hiking, rail trail, single-track mountain biking, and kayaking are all right here! See our kayak and bike rentals under extras! Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby. Note: Monthly rental discounts are available. Work-stay exchange programs are available. We are always looking for good reliable part-time help on the farm! Please ask! Fall leaves colors are looking awesome! Come enjoy the leaves by day and stars by night beside your campfire! Follow us on Instagram: @fairview_farms_airfield

Fairview Farms - ** RUSTIC ** Tent
Creative Handyman Tent Construction
The location and view were indeed beautiful, but you literally had to drive to the bathroom or pee onsite! The tent and bed were designed by a "Master Gerry rigger"! He used what he had such as tarps, lumber, plywood and rope to build the tent, platform and bed frame! You literally had to crawl up onto the bed which was suspended above the floor to keep the mice off. I can't easily explain how truly bizarre the bed set up was. Plus, if you got up, your partner's side of the bed would tilt! We had a lot of laughs, but glamping it wasn't! I wasn't going to leave a review but since Hipcamp sent me so many requests for feedback, I'm lettin' it fly! By the way, the location is near a barely used, private landing strip. The kitchen you paid extra to use was in a junk filled "Hanger", a giant hoarders stowage area, where you had to look around to figure out what and where the kitchen was. The other campsites were fine and the hosts were nice. Whoever built the tent put some time into it but if he had used some money as well it could have been much more inviting and could even draw repeaters!

Great potential, host not so much.
The mattresses were great. ‘Rotisserie’ bed was a blast. Overall awesome funky little site, Had lots of promise. We arrived late the first night as one of the children in our group became quite ill, the host was relatively understanding. We thought everything would be fine… Unfortunately-the tent leaked very badly in a storm (as in EVERYTHING got soaked including the actually relatively comfortable mattresses). The hosts could not have changed the weather-this is true-but when we requested that the minimal electricity which was advertised be provided (it went out at 10pm with minimal use)-I was told that we had paid for camping and not any electric… (which was advertised). I had to advocate pretty hard for minimal support. I understand it was raining and he did not want to be out in it-but neither did we and honestly we weren’t complaining about anything but needing a nightlight in a rainstorm. I was told we paid for ‘camping’ only and that’s it. Finally the host came out and changed out the battery, but he was very unpleasant about it. Was also overcharged for our second night and the host offered firewood & eggs instead of the reimbursement we requested. We needed neither—it rained the entire 2nd day, no campfires or real cooking in a rainstorm… Bottom line: we spent $230 for 2 nights for a leaky tent and a disagreement on whether we paid for enough electric to run a small nightlight in a rainstorm. Wasn’t looking for a hotel, but it certainly would have been cheaper…

Deer View
Great rural stay! Lots to do.
We loved staying here for 2 weeks! Bill and his family were excellent hosts and great people. The views were awesome…especially up on the hill by the plane. We enjoyed several camp fires, walking/biking the property with our dogs and visiting their animals. There were plenty of campers nearby but it was always quiet and peaceful. I work full time and had good Verizon and T-Mobile coverage - I also use a booster. Not much in town per se but a great central location for Reading, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Scranton, Hershey, Off-road parks, hiking trails, fishing areas, and more - all of which we explored. Expect lots of wildlife - bunnies, groundhogs, wild turkeys, deer, and more. Our dogs loved the park and walking around the trails! I made the mistake of trying a 110outlet and Bill was gracious and fixed it for us. If you have a 40ft motorhome like me just be aware the driveway is very narrow and may get pinstriping. Would love to come back!!
