Tucked away alongside the Schuylkill River, and just next to the expansive Schuylkill River Trail, Camp Douglass gives you an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle without leaving the creature comforts at home. A 5 minute drive gets you to more than 6 restaurants, a grocery store, a Wawa, and more.Hello and welcome to Camp Douglass, your private 10 acre oasis along the Schuylkill River. Come by to relax and unwind without needing to leave the creature comforts at home. 🏕 The camp area consists of a large cleared out section of the forest, 3 picnic tables, and a metal fire pit. Here you’ll find beautiful views across and up the Schuylkill river with no houses in sight. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the camp on foot from the parking area via a flat clean trail. You may also drive directly to the site, see below for details. 🐣 PLEASE NOTE: We are still new to hosting, so we politely ask for your feedback and kindness during your stay. Your messages help turn this into a great camping experience to be enjoyed by everyone. 🚲 We are located directly alongside the Schuylkill River Trail, a beautiful nature and biking trail that spans more than 75 miles across Pennsylvania. Bring your bicycle, or simply go for a walk through the endless expanse of beautiful forest in the region. 🏝 Feeling adventurous? Take your kayak or canoe to your very own private island in the middle of the river to experience the ultimate seclusion. 🪵 We have prepared a moderate amount of firewood for our guests, and there are more than enough downed trees throughout the forest around the camp area that you may cut as well. Please do not cut any living trees. 🛤🔊 Camp is located near an active train line, so you may hear the low rumble of a train a few times during your stay. Because there are no road crossings nearby, you'll never hear a horn. Please read our reviews to see our past guests feelings on the noise before booking. 🐜 Keep in mind, this is a riverside forest. There will be bugs! You may find some mosquitos along the trail on your way to the camp, but generally we have not had any issue with them at the camp itself. Bug spray is advised. 🍳 You'll be a 10-15 min walk from at least 5 restaurants, an 8 min walk to Wawa (24 hour food and toilets), and a 12 min walk to Redners (full size grocery store). 🚌 We are located a 15 min walk away from the Klein bus terminal with twice daily service to and from NYC. 🛻 Vehicle access! We are working hard to bring you comfortable van and truck access directly to the riverside campground. Wake up to a beautiful sunrise along the river in the comfort of your own vehicle. If you’re feeling adventurous, ask us about beta testing our new access road.

Secluded Riverside Campsite

Secluded Riverside Campsite

The dudes approve

Our group of old college friends really liked the camp. Plenty of land to explore and the river saved us during our recent 95+ degree stay. The camp was clean with plenty of wood for cooking on the supplied fire pit with a decent grill. The large trees also kept us from stroking out from the intense heat that weekend. Follow Shane’s directions in and you will be in your own private campground.

Secluded Riverside Campsite

This site was easy to access and the firewood given was practically endless which was very kind. There is a good spot next to the picnic table to set up a hammock and the train that runs through the site was pretty cool. My only complaint is there were constantly people canoeing very close to camp (and I mean constantly. Probably like 2-3 people per half hour from morning till nightfall) and sometimes very loud groups of people would start partying on the island next to the site blasting music and yelling for a while. But obviously our site owner can’t prevent this so it’s not his fault. Just something to keep in mind though. If you’re looking for something very private then this isn’t it, but it still is a very nice experience.

Great spot. Huge secluded site all to yourself.Need a 4x4 with decent ground clearance to get to the site.Definitely using again.Host was very helpful and responsive.

Secluded Riverside Campsite

The site was great! Espectacular view. I am so Pleased with the experience. Shane was an amazing host, very attentive in all ways. He had ample wood in site. There’s so much space; I was astonished there’s 2 sites all part of the same booking. Portable potty 🚽 was excellent. Come with ear plugs for the train visits! 🚂
