Four secluded campsites along Bear Creek in the Poconos, feature spacious safari tents with queen bunk beds, covered dining area, a deck to set up an additional 6 person pop up tent. In addition we have “Check Point Shed” where campers can borrow gear. Drive into your campsite immediately you will hear the sounds of a babbling creek, by giant rhododendrons under magnificent hemlocks and oaks - a truly natural and relaxing experience. Campers can enjoy a short hike to our private waterfall with swimming hole or lay in a hammock by the creek. The sites are surrounded by 400 acres of privately owned natural forest with several miles of marked trails. The campsite is adjoined by Lehigh Gorge State Park and PA state game lands. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended for hiking. Just minutes away there are outdoor adventures galore: white water rafting, kayaking, biking on rail to trails bike paths, skirmish paint ball, Glen Onoko Falls and Hickory Run state parks. The mountaintop entertainment venue Penns Peak and the historic town of Jim Thorpe are just 15 minutes from the campsite. Jim Thorpe has many fine eatery’s, shops, the Lehigh Gorge Railway and Asa Packer mansion

Bear Creek Falls Getaway

Family friendly, accessible

Camp Dietrich is an excellent spot for family camping and very accessible for all types of campers. My 6 year old and I had an incredible first camping trip together here! We loved the zip line (total surprise when we got there!) and the swimming hole. The camp site was awesome - tent was sturdy and cozy, dining area is covered and stocked with tools, access to Bear Creek just steps away. Scott and his family have done an awesome job making trails and building their camp into a very special gem outside of Jim Thorpe, PA!

A Creek Runs Through It, Poconos

One of our favorite places!

This was our second visit to Camp Deitrich and we love this place! We’ve come both times with our young sons (9 and 5) and they absolutely love the experience! I hope it’ll be an annual tradition for our family for years to come. The property is absolutely amazing! Acres of unspoiled nature, so many hiking trails, wildlife, with so many cool spots along the river to explore. Next year we’ll bring fishing rods. We all enjoyed taking hikes, watching deer, campfire cooking, making s’mores, games by the fire and swimming at the waterfalls. Scott and Christina are such kind and gracious hosts and provide everything you could need for a great glamping experience. They checked in daily to make sure we had everything we needed and the boys loved asking questions about the history and wildlife in the area. The campsite is perfectly situated and extremely private. The tent was very cozy and we opted to get the bedding so we didn’t have to pack as much, which was very comfortable and convenient. He also has all the cooking supplies you could need to borrow from the checkpoint shed. We liked our site, ‘A Creek Runs Through It’ because we could park our car near by, but Scott was nice enough to let us check out another open site, and that looked just as cool, so we’ll probably try that next year. It’s a great introduction to camping for kids (and makes it easy for parents), but would be great for any nature loving group or people. I can’t recommend enough! Book it!!!

Bear Creek Hideaway in the Poconos

Loved our stay!

We loved camping at bear creek hideaway and had the best weekend! Our campsite was private, had everything you could need, and the sound of the creek right next to it was so relaxing. We hiked to the waterfalls and through the many trails on the land. Overall, would recommend to anyone!

Retreat on Bear Creek

Amazing!

When we got there, I was kind of lost because I couldn't contact Scott before arriving due to lack of service. I was also afraid driving down the gravel road but my sienna did great. Scott was having lunch but he just came with us and showed everything we needed to know. We stayed there 2 days and it was just amazing. Views, the creek, swimming hole, bridge, ect. It's so nice they have floats in the swimming hole. We all, including kids, had a great time

Thanks for the stay at A Creek Runs Through It. We loved the setting- so peaceful and natural. Enjoyed swimming in the waterfall, walking on the trails, looking for wildlife and sitting round the fire. Would thoroughly recommend this to others. Beds comfy too.

Bear Creek Hideaway in the Poconos

Fantastic camp site!

My wife and I spent a night here for our 11th anniversary and I wish we could had stayed longer! The waterfalls were fantastic and fun to swim in and we had a good time exploring the area. Our campsite was right next to the creek which was relaxing to sleep next to. The owner was also really helpful and kind and the site has so many amenities, tools, and other things to ensure a great camping experience. We're looking forward to coming back again!
