We are working to be back open for the 2025 season.
Camping at Timber Sands provides a more private and quiet setting than the public camp grounds, family and pet friendly with lots of room to stretch out and explore. Car camping, tents, campers and RVs are all welcome.
6 miles north of Pacific City and 14 miles south of Tillamook.
*property is located one mile from Sand Lake recreation area, busy weekends can bring distance noise of ATVs on the sand dunes during the daytime*
The camp has one or more porta potties which are serviced weekly.
This campsite offers a peaceful and spacious setting with proximity to beaches and dunes, ideal for those looking for a simple and private camping experience. The host, Jesse, is friendly and helpful, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. While the site is generally quiet, the presence of nearby sand dunes means ATV noise can be a factor during daylight hours, which might detract from the tranquility for some visitors. Facilities like clean porta-potties and potable water are available, though some sites lack tables and other amenities.
Lovely large areas for camping. Note: I was not on the ground but in my Westfalia. Quiet and peaceful except for the frequent ATV riders in the distant sand dunes. It was the weekend so maybe ATV activities are not as noisy during the week.
Jesse is a great host, personable and eager to make sure Alder Creek has necessary items to make it more comfortable, ex: outhouse, water, wifi. That was all very pleasant.
The land itself is beautiful and very cool.
We will not be staying here again, because of the sounds that carry over from the ATVs and Buggies. He mentioned this upfront, but we assumed there would be some sort of curfew or limit. There is not and we were hearing motors flaring up until 2am one night. A bummer because the area is so pretty.
Without the ATV noises we would consider to stay here again, but it doesn't seem like there is any way to control the noises given close proximity to local campgrounds.
Beautiful place. We had a great time! It was my son's first camping trip and his middle name is Alder so he was very happy it was named Alder Creek.
