Welcome to Shasta View Wanderer's Retreat, your ideal basecamp for outdoor adventures. Located approximately 60 miles from Crater Lake National Park, 30 miles from Lava Beds National Monument, and 12 miles from Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, our retreat offers unparalleled access to a variety of natural wonders. Within just 30 minutes, you'll find numerous opportunities for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and biking, with private access to miles of hiking trails on public land right from the campsite. Keep your eyes peeled for the impressive eagle activity in the area, as bald and golden eagles are frequently spotted soaring above or perched nearby. At night, you may have the opportunity to join us for star viewing parties under our dark, expansive sky—an experience you won't forget. While our site offers access to seclusion, it's not entirely secluded on its own. Nestled at the bottom of a pasture in a farming area, it's within sight of the owner and a neighbor. However, rural living offers a sense of privacy, allowing you to relax and be yourself amidst nature. Keep in mind that you may encounter bugs, coyotes, deer, and some nearby farming activity during your stay. Our communal camping area features level ground, fire pit, potable water spigot, camp toilet, and a picnic table. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be leashed or kenneled on the property—feel free to let them off-leash on the adjacent public lands. Owners are available to provide information and maps for hiking and outdoor recreation activities. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Shasta from your campsite, with seasonally flooded fields adding to the picturesque scenery. You're also welcome to explore the hills nearby, offering even more breathtaking vistas to discover.Site 1 is part of a communal camp area at the bottom of a pasture with beautiful rural views of Mount Shasta and private access to public land hiking. Guests of the property will have use of the pasture, a fire pit, and picnic tables. There is potable water available but no hookups or power. There is a portable toilet for the use of guests as well. Public land access is either through the owner property, or walk/drive less than a half mile to the trailhead/day use site. This location is approximately 60 miles from Crater Lake National Park, 26 miles from Lava Beds National Monument, 12 miles from the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, and has ample opportunities nearby for hiking, biking, and kayaking. Klamath Falls, Merrill, and Malin are also just a short drive. Please be aware that this area has access to miles of seclusion, but is not a secluded area itself. There are houses within view and it is not far off of a road. This is also a farming area, so there will be farm activities as well as the normal bugs and wildlife that come with the territory. Guests can check out camping games and will be provided with a map of the surrounding public land area.

I had to cancel because of the smoke in the area. Laurie was very gracious and understanding. I will be staying there when the smoke clears up a bit more.

Beautiful spot with bunnies and owls and a cat! We had the whole place to ourselves! There was an incredible sunset. And it was right on the side of the highway, which was nice because it wasn’t out of our way. Laurie was super nice! We didn’t use the toilet situation but it’s nice that that was set up in case we wanted to.

Very helpful host
Our trip got delayed and then cancelled due to family illness, so we never actually made it to the site. Laurie was very helpful and understanding, and did all she could to accommodate our situation. Will definitely try this spot again in the future!

Rural tranquility
This was a beautiful rural setting on a low hill overlooking a part of the Klamath Basin and Mt Shasta. A simple camp spot that felt relaxing, private and safe,, providing what was needed for a comfortable camp. I enjoyed my one night here. The hosts privided good info with directions and info to find the site. I would stay here again.
