Glenada was incorporated in 1912 and disincorporated in 1922 after the town's sawmills burned. This side of the river was pretty bustling before the Siuslaw bridge was built in 1936, being quite a transformative event considering the ferry from Glenada to Florence was the main way across the river. River View is located up on Glenada mountain, on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere, with 2 children, 2 large dogs, a cat, and 12 chickens. We allow Hip Campers to bring animals on the property with the understanding that they are good around children and other animals, as our kids and pets are often running around the land. We have firewood bundles and farm-fresh eggs available for additional fees. THERE IS NO TOILET on the property. This is not a tent camping site unless you have your own porta-potty set up. This is a beautiful rustic property close enough to Hwy 101 to be convenient but far enough away to enjoy all the wildlife the Siuslaw River has to offer. Bird watching at its finest! Not to mention the view of Old Town! Learn more about this land: River View is located on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere. This little slice of rugged heaven is just above the Siuslaw River and right off of Hwy 101. There is a steep gravel driveway but once at the top, it is flat and the view is pretty amazing. From camp, you can see Old Town. Gaze down at the Siuslaw River and all the wildlife that comes with it! We regularly see deer, red tail hawks, ospreys, and bald eagles. We have also had a bear that passes through, so beware of leaving food out. There are plenty of places to hike and visit nearby dunes, rivers, lakes, parks, and the ocean. Enjoy Florence's amazing food (ask the host for her favorites). Walk down to Old Town for dinner or bring back take-out and eat it in the tiny house (no electricity or running water). Take a short walk to Pricket state park for clamming or just relax with a book and feel the breeze off the river.  Whatever you enjoy, we’re sure you can find something close by! No bathroom or running water but there are 2 electrical plugs (110V and 220V) available.River View is a little slice of rugged heaven just above the Siuslaw River and right off of Hwy 101. Great view of the river
Christina is an amazing host, she met us when we pulled in, even though we were a day late - we got behind on our trip so only stayed at this camp one night. There's plenty of room to park and turn a trailer around. The view of the river and the super cramped RV camp across the river was fun, and the lights at night are very pretty. There's even power to plug into if you need it. Overall, a great location close enough to dune trailheads that it's easy to access great places to walk. The road was a bit loud - the camp is level with a highway, and although there's a ravine in between, the highway is only 200 yards away, and it's a downhill stretch, so trucks can get loud. I would definitely stay here again, but not for an extended time - a night or two while traveling through.

It was a great place to park our rig within a few minutes of town. Due to the steep hill and the 101 bridge, it’s not the most walkable/bike able but easy to get anywhere by car.

Beautiful night city view!
We met with the host and purchased fresh eggs and wood then the host told us about all the berries on the land. My daughter and I woke up early to pick berries before we took off for our next adventure to the Redwoods. We totally loved this campground. It was one of my our favorites and we have traveled all around the country.

Perfect Getaway!
River View was awesome! It’s private and peaceful, plus having 30 amp electrical hookup was a bonus. The views are spectacular and it’s close to town. We rode our electric bikes to town and to the beach. The hosts were so nice and we got some fresh eggs. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice!
Very private. Driveway is fine if you just keep going. I got a camper pulling a jeep up there very easily.

Great views and location!
We loved the location and the views. Although we were just above the house, we felt like we had our own place. I loved the little sun room as well and sat out there in the evenings to watch the water and sunset. You have direct access to the 101, the Port of Siuslaw, and Old Town Florence in less than 5 minutes, plus a very close drive to the dunes, the jetties, and tons of hiking trails along 101 and the national forest. It’s pretty perfect! Also, if you need water, trash disposal, or dump station, that is all available at the Port of Siuslaw which is just over the bridge. Dump was $5 and water was 25 cents for 5 minutes. The host was friendly and responsive. One of our best Hipcamp stays to date!
