Our Garden & Galaxy Retreat in Portland, OR is a stunner. It is built with salvaged materials from nearby painted lady Victorian home that are the pillars at the entrance and the siding is from a nearby barn. The sliding door as you enter is a salvaged US Federal Building Door that glides on barn rails and it has the original mail slot in the door. The retreat is an indoor/outdoor experience as there are two walls that feature beveled shutters that open and the roof is a see through experience to watch the birds, wildlife and stars. The queen bed is super comfortable and there is a small desk filled with maps of nearby places to play. There is a small cabinet outfitted with slippers to slip on and take the path to the garden pergola - the swinging twin bed or the main house. Follow us at @gardengalaxypdx My home for the last 34 years; I have put care, love and abundance in creating a magical garden with surprises throughout. My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September. To turn on the shower, refer to the photos or watch a video here - https://bit.ly/3WNoheG There is an outdoor fridge in the garden for your use and we provide beverages and creamer for coffee or tea provided in the room for your enjoyment. There is a fan provided in summer and a heater provided in the Spring and Fall for the room evenings can be a bit crisp so you can customize your temperature to your comfort level.A private winding path leading to a garden oasis filled with loving details awaits you. A bedroom made w architectural details from the Victorian era (painted lady porch, sliding US Federal Building glass door, barn siding, etc..). The bed is EXTREMELY comfortable and the see-through roof allows the beauty of nature to be seen while lying in bed at sun-break or falling asleep to the moonlight. Twinkle lights around the roof provide a subtle starlight tranquility to lull you to sleep. The room is my dream bedroom outdoors - crafted with loving attention to details and offering serenity and comfort in my treasured garden. There is a shared bathroom on the main floor of the house that is equally charming and a short skip from the outdoor room. There is a fridge, hot water kettle, coffee, tea, nibbles and things to enjoy in your space.  **Please note that the space is both indoor and outdoor in that one of the shutters opens directly to the outdoors. It is kept warm with a fabulous, quiet space heater and is super comfortable in that it heats quickly but can be cold upon first arrival in the colder season.

Exceptional Getaway
My stay at Shannon’s was nothing short of delightful! I was comfortable, felt safe, and was enchanted by the fine touches she’s put throughout the property. Soft lighting at night made it easy to wind down & fresh coffee/cream in the morning facilitated a pleasant wake up 🌞 she was receptive to any questions I had and extremely accommodating. I would definitely recommend this unique abode & would book with her again on future trips to Oregon!

Short stay but so great!
We were only able to stay for a couple hours in order to catch our flight home, but Shannon was extremely accommodating and friendly, and met us when we arrived. Her backyard is so beautiful and I wish we could have had time to lounge on the swing bed in the yard!

We made it work. In the end I just needed a place to sleep and it worked. I feel like the post for which I imagined I would be staying at was misleading. Everything described a room outside, sliding doorway, see through roof to see the sky. I thought for sure I would be staying in this cool, outdoorsy room in the backyard of the main house. I made my way to this room in the backyard, Made it inside the room, then got hollered at that we were actually staying upstairs in the main house. The outdoorsy room was their “summer room” and was a mess. So we were led to the room upstairs. There happened to be another guest staying in the other upstairs room. I re-read the description of the room I booked, and could not get over the confusion of how we ended up in the upstairs room of the house. Maybe I missed something when booking the post, but even after re-reading everything it seemed very confusing and misleading. Like I said in the beginning, we made it work as we really just needed a place to stay, but it was not what I was expecting at all

Short and Sweet
I enjoyed staying in the garden retreat room on Shannon's property. Cute, quaint garden with some eclectic flair. Unique accent lighting at night. Also enjoyed the Jasmine on the patio and the swing couch/bed under the pergola. Gratefully sampled from a large selection of both herbal (evening) and caffienated teas. Easy to access both the shared kitchen and bath areas. One note about the shared areas: we were surprised by some nude-themed decor (not overt, but a few items here and there)- so if that's not your thing it might be helpful to know ahead of time.

Overall we had a good experience and the hosts we're wonderful and so full of great information and very accommodating and helpful. The garden sleeping space was comfortable, unfortunately there were acorns that would drop regularly on the thin roofing and despite earplugs were very loud and surprising!
