Nathaniel and Raina Potter purchased this 30-acre ranch in 2016 and aptly named it "Big Rock Ranch." The modest ranch layout with the wildly immodest views of a giant rock outcropping jutting out of coyote butte was the immediate draw and continual wonder to Nathaniel, Raina, and all who visit. Big Rock Ranch runs cattle in the irrigated pastures and chickens for meat and eggs. Stay at Big Rock Ranch...Stay in a 12x14 ft canvas tent on a working regenerative family farm in the high desert. Enjoy views of a 300+ ft Tuff rock formation, Cascade Mountains, and irrigated pasture views all from the tent. Cook your own meals in the outdoor kitchen, outfitted with propane burners and a sink. Eat meals from the tent deck or the picnic table under native junipers surrounded by sagebrush, bitterbrush, and native grasses and tuff boulders. Collect farm fresh eggs and greens seasonally with the opportunity to enjoy meat raised at the ranch. One queen bed in a canvas tent, one folding cot, and access to a 2-person tent if needed to accommodate a family or two couples. Bedding is NOT supplied beyond the queen bed. Recreation Activities: Limited hiking available onsite but only 8 minutes from Smith Rock State Park for hiking and climbing. Only 25 minutes from Lake Billy Chinook for water recreating. Just 15 minutes from mountain biking at Skull Hollow. A 10-minute drive to swimming in the Deschutes River at Borden Beck Wildlife Preserve. Bend and Sisters are both 30-minutes away. Night rates are offerings to our family and ranch.

High Desert Canvas Tent on Farm
Big Rock Ranch is such a special, beautiful spot and Raina and family have created a sweet little oasis there. The big tent is thoughtful and very comfortable. Raina graciously let us borrow an extension cord so my dad could plug in his CPAP. The outdoor kitchen has all the basics you need for camp cooking, and we made two memorable meals there. Raina even brought eggs for us to eat with breakfast—so thoughtful! We did the regenerative farm tour and learned about how they're creating a small farm that's sustainable for the land, animals, and humans who live there. Meeting the animals and watching the goats frolic on the rocks was very special. Sunset and sunrise were both stunning. The big rock catches the light and absolutely glows. The sunset colors were glorious, too. This beautiful place is worth visiting and returning to.

Beautiful farm is a must stay!!
Most beautiful place. Like I still can’t comprehend the beauty and simplicity of this place. There are a few trails located behind the yurt that lead to a bench that overlooks the land below, breath taking. Was a tiny bit cold, bought a blanket and was much better. Stars??! Oh my word, I can’t explain how beautiful they are out there. Would absolutely stay here again next time we’re in Oregon. We were our adventuring quite a bit and met the hosts on the last night, very wonderful hosts as well!! Can’t recommend this place enough!

Beautiful spot!
What a fantastic tiny home! This little house is so thoughtfully designed with beautiful and artful touches throughout. The kitchen and seating area is perfect for two people and the shower area with clothing storage is perfect. The view and ambiance at the tiny home is not to be missed.

The best place in Terrebonne!
Wow, what a place! We absolutely loved our stay in the Elk Tent at Big Rock Ranch. The setting for this tent is incredible with huge rocks up above you. We caught the most beautiful sunsets. Our kids had the time of their lives feeding the goats, gathering eggs, and hunting lizards. It is an incredibly short drive to Smith Rock where you can hike and play in the river. Truly a special place with special hosts!

High Desert Tiny Home on Farm
We loved our stay! The tiny home was cute, cozy, and had a functional kitchen. The animals were fun to see, and Raina and the kids brought over some fresh eggs for us to enjoy with our breakfast. The landscape was gorgeous, with lots of large, interesting rocks to look at!
