Welcome to my beautiful piece of Central Almaguin Off grid camping. I live on 8.25 acres of level fairly open land. 10 min NE of South River The campground is about 3 acres, with 3 sites Beside a small lake, Wendigo Lake, with a wide creek exiting the lake . Paddling distance to 2 other lakes that feed into Wendigo lake. very quiet, private place, stress free, excellent for relaxing, great place for staging daytrips, safe if you want to do a few days in Algonquin Park. dogs and pets welcome, but must be leashed on the property. I have a friendly dog but will leash her also. the sunsets here are awesome, see pics Located only 12 kms from West entrance to Algonquin Park. Dark skies and fairly open area for stargazing. Many walking trails close by . ATV trails and tours nearby also. Bird migration route, excellent for bird watching. In my 10 yrs here I have seen 97 different species of birds on the property or flying over. Very private, closest neighbor 3/4 km away.

Reviewers consistently praise Dan's warm hospitality, attentiveness, and the well-maintained facilities, including dinner tents and firewood. The area is noted for its natural beauty, with opportunities for kayaking, wildlife spotting, and star-gazing. While most reviews are glowing, a few mention the lack of formal toilet facilities, suggesting campers should come prepared.

BEST HIP CAMP OUT HERE
Tent ·
Absolute BEST HIP CAMP I have ever been to! Dan is a great host and even better person! I had some great conversations with him. I was also camping at -23C for the first time and he made sure I was safe! His property is beautiful and well maintained. He made sure the path is cleared from snow for me to get to! He provided plenty of firewood for me to stay warm all night! The night sky is AMAZING! I will definitely come back here!

An amazing spot, and a wonderful host. Dan is so welcoming, and the sites are beautiful. Some fantastic wildlife around the area, and the sunset's on the creek are breathtaking. Have been back a couple times now and will absolutely be doing the same again. Highly recommend!

Beautiful spot, wonderful hosts
Tent · With pets ·
We planned to go up Thursday to Sunday but had some car troubles on the way that resulted in us being very very late. Dan was wonderfully understanding and super helpful. The site is beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised to find a dinner tent already on the site over the picnic table. There were a lot of really wonderful thoughtful little touches. It was very private. The land is beautiful as are the lakes. Dan and Penny were amazing hosts and I’m so glad we had the opportunity to meet them and I truly hope to see them again soon! Thanks Dan and Penny!! -Nikki and Lee

This property keeps calling to us, it's quickly becoming our go-to for escape, so much peace and quiet. Dan is always up for an intellectual conversation too, a refreshing way to unwind and recharge.
