Sycamore Self-Camping
Not what it advertised
The codes to get in the "lodge" came about a day in a half after we arrived. No water in the shower and the lodge was overgrown and looked abandoned for years. Luckily there was a neighborhood Walmart about 7 miles away to get a bucket toilet. None of these things would have been an issue if it wasn't advertised as a Glamping spot and just a bare camping spot. The best thing about it was it was deserted and we had the whole area to ourselves. I'll try Hipcamp again but I won't go to this site again.

Site 1 - The Sycamore RV Spots
Good place to getaway and relax.
Wife & I are new to using RV sites, so we're still learning about our trailer's abilities, functionality, and amenities. Keeping that in mind we enjoyed our stay. This campground has a great deal of potential and after visiting with one of the owners I think they have a great vision of what they want their facility to become. Overall the communication with Em was easy and she was quick to respond and Nels was there to help us set up and do some mowing. We weren't able to use Site #1 due to some electrical issues which wasn't a major problem since we were the only people there for the weekend we moved to a different site. Pros: quiet, isolated, great for getting back to nature and relaxing under the stars. Cons: power boxes need to be updated & marked for 30 or 50 use. Or better yet have all three sites setup for permanent use by both 30 & 50. Personally I would love to return and stay again, when the weather cools down. The 105°+ heat kept us from really enjoying everything there was available.

The Sycamore Bells
The cleanliness of the cabin and toilets are concerning. This is glamping and people choose this over camping for some added benefits, especially if you have kids. But the state park restrooms and showers are much more glam than this one. I would prefer to keep away next time.

The Sycamore Bells
I am going to give my honest review and no disrespect is intended toward the host. The camp sites are not private but luckily we were the only ones there that weekend. The tent was roomy but the the air mattress would not stay fully inflated and slid around on the metal frame. The cabin was in bad shape and we only used the restroom when absolutely necessary (the shower was absolutely out of the question). The stove looked like it was about to fall apart and the counter had dead bugs and spiders all over it. We did catch a couple of fish but access to the river was a bit difficult for our 7 year old. While I understand the reasoning, the fire pit was too far away from the tent and we had to bring our own firewood. You could forage in the woods for firewood but if you wandered off the area that had been mowed you ended up with little stickers all over you. There were no trash cans and you had to take all your trash with you which was inconvenient since we had a 2 hour drive home with the trash in our car. Unfortunately I would not recommend this campsite.
