Wild Mountain Way is a bit of a conundrum. It's close to civilisation, but far from it. I found this little spot about four years ago and have been trying to tread gently, while making a nest in these stunning mountains. While some provisions are a given... Firewood, Spring Water, WiFi, Power for phone charging etc. You are still in a 5000 acre bowl and I have the last property in the holler. It is Quiet up here. There are 3 pitches, MOST require AWD/4WD. All of the sites are about 300' from one another... it's a moderately steep but brisk hike. Fireside is the most social spot as it has the view and a big firepit with log slab seating and festoon lamps depending on the weather... All power up here is off grid. There is an occupied airstream about 100 feet away, but the chap in there is very quiet and cival. You are welcome to free camp anywhere on the land if you'd like more seclusion. Creakside is tucked away in a sheltered ravine with a foot bridge leading the way to a private nook. Nearside is well... Near! It's the best option if you have a 2WD car. It's near to the parking, but also near (100'+) to the cabin I'm building. There is no construction noise when guests are here. If you don't have an off road vehicle and let me know when you think you'll arrive, I'll do my best to be here and load anything heavy into my farm truck or quad bike... We can get you settled into any of the spots pretty easily and there are usually folk here, on site should you need any support day or night.

In my opinion this is the perfect spot to tent camp. It is secluded enough to get away from people, but not so far away from civilization where you can't make a quick trip to the convenience store because you forgot something. The view was amazing. The site itself has everything you need except maybe a shower. Henry is an amazing host. If you don't have an AWD vehicle, Henry will help take the heavy stuff in his AWD. He is also great company, we even asked him to hang out with us for a bit. We will absolutely be returning.

Lovely place in the mountains. The fireplace, great view and lights around gave us a better experience. Henry is very accommodating.

Nearside review
Gorgeous property. Lots of hiking to be done on property if you don’t feel like driving anywhere. Nearside campsite has a fire pit made of rocks with a large picnic table. Henry himself is great host happy to answer questions and give recommendations. Max is the lab mix at the campsite doing an excellent job at keeping other animals away and is well behaved (His services are optional).

Nearside
Once I found the place (it's all spread out and just a bit hidden, I later found signs) I really enjoyed it. I didn't meet Henry but there were another locals that were super friendly, plus their dog Max was hanging out with me, which was nice and helped me feel more safe! The restroom turned out to be a little far, but it is primitive camping after all.
