Bernie and Sondra moved to Boone from the hot flatlands of the Eastern NC in 1973. They fell in love with the beauty of the mountains, the temperate weather, the friendly people and the charm of what was then a small University town. Quickly, they decided they'd never leave and purchased this property soon after. They built the house and ponds over the next few years and have loved sharing the natural serenity of their homeplace with friends, family and neighbors ever since. Learn more about this land: Enjoy a peaceful getaway on our 10-acre property situated in a quiet rural neighborhood. Our home and land are beautifully nestled at the base of two mountains and surrounded by gracefully swaying tall trees. Pitch your tents by one of our two ponds stocked with bass and brim. Guests are welcome to fish! (Please bring your own rods and bait) Designated fire rings, a picnic table, a tree swing, and canoes are available for use. A small trickling stream flows through the woods which is fun for children to explore. Toilet, shower, and potable water are within short walking distance inside the Twin Oaks shop building. Our Twin Oaks property is conveniently located within 10 minutes by car to prime spots for hiking, biking, tubing/kayaking. Other adventures including shopping, dining, local breweries, and live music can be found in nearby Boone or Blowing Rock. - 3 miles to Elk Knob State Park - 5 miles to Todd and the New River for tubing and canoeing. - 7 miles to Boone - 15 miles to Blowing Rock

Nice and quiet!

Wonderful hosts at a great spot. No light pollution so on a clear night, loads of stars. Great fishing in the pond. Super nice to have a toilet and shower. Easy to get to and enjoyed the solitude and unplugging. Will definitely be back!!

Sondra and Bernie’s property is absolutely stunning and they are fantastic hosts! The property overlooks a well stocked pond with canoes for use. I needed to work throughout my stay and my Starlink internet had probably the best connections I’ve ever had with speeds averaging 130 mbs down. I brought our 28’ Airstream which was manageable to access the property. Since my son is a student at App, I hope to visit Sondra and Bernie quite frequently over the next few years.

I love the time I spent at this beautiful and peaceful place. Sondra and Bernie were very welcoming and kind to me and my husband. Had a bathroom area for us that was clean and nice. Loved the pond. Would definitely recommend staying.
