Hi Hipcampers! We are The Union Exchange, a family run farm and agro-tourism business located 35 minutes from Uptown Charlotte. We have 54 acres, multiple farm houses, cabins, and beautiful outdoors to enjoy. On the property you can take nature walks, hang out in our Exchange Market with a glass of wine or coffee, relax by the fire pit, listen to live music under our pavilion, play with our baby goats and so much more.Welcome to the farm! Enjoy our 54 acre land via our spacious and newly renovated old Homestead House. This 5 bedroom 3 bathroom home even has it's very own lofted Party Barn for your group to unwind. Backing up our goat and miniature donkey pasture, the expansive backyard area comes complete with a pavilion, fire pit, and grilling area. While you are here you can take advantage of all The Union Exchange has to offer.
The space: Built in 1955, the Homestead House tells the story of our Southern design journey on the property with exposed high wood ceiling, quirky architectural features we just couldn't part ways with, and calming yet vibrant earth tones for ultimate relaxation Three of the bedrooms offer a comfy queen bed and the remaining two are dual Masters with King beds and their own bathrooms featuring lux showers.
There is certainly no lack of outdoor space beginning with a front porch and cedar chairs (great for our very own Union Exchange brand coffee in the mornings!), large yard, and backyard pavilion filled with market lights. In the colder months, we provide outside heaters or you can warm up by our fire pit. First batch of firewood is on us!
The Party Barn recounts a past of it's own... what historically was an old barn in the 1950s then turned mechanics garage, this space has been fully renovated without loosing its rustic charm. The Party Barn comes complete with seating, a mounted TV, loft, and space with a liquor cabinet made using the original kitchen cabinetry in the home. We have strived to show love to the past by utilizing old doors and windows found on the farm for parts of the walls.
We hope you enjoy this space as much as we do! While you are there, say hello to our goat girls who will certainly be paying you a visit as their home and pasture connects onto the backyard.
Guest access: Guests have exclusive access to The Homestead House, Party Barn, Pavilions and surrounding lawn. All are welcome and encouraged to explore the rest of our 54 acre property while you visit. The Union Exchange Market store is also on the land featuring an array of artisan goods, provisions, and beverages. While you are enjoying the great outdoors be sure to say hello to our chickens in the coop and take a journey to relax inside our country version of a treehouse called "The Nest."
