(Note: Fireworks, crackers, sparklers, garbage burning are not permitted) Tip: check out the 'Phases of the Moon' calendar in photos before booking! Formerly: Spruill Farm Conservation Project The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has just been set up as conservation easement protected land. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. This makes the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing. Spruill Farm Site #3
Private and peaceful
We camped the week after Labor Day in our camper van. The other 2 sites had campers the first day but our site felt completely private and quiet. The view is lovely and we enjoyed walking the trails with our dogs!

Spruill Farm Site #1
Hidden gem close to Hampton Roads.
Amazing views and quiet, superbly relaxing space. We were at site #1 while the other two sites were empty but seeing the arrangement and trees I don't think it would change the private feeling of each site. Small beachhead located right off site #1 provided a great swimming spot for the kids and launch site for our kayaks (nice looking kayaks for rent on site for a great price also). Porta potty was immaculate so you know it's cleaned and emptied regularly. We look forward to coming back again to explore more of the trails and buy some of their produce and figs from the site (just ran out of time!). Oh and almost forgot the sun sets....wow.

Spruill Farm Site #1
Such an awesome spot, so peaceful! Sites were spacious and well-maintained, views were beautiful! Host greeted us when we got there, then gave us privacy. My dogs and I loved swimming and playing in the sound. There was a picnic table and benches around the firepit at our site (#1), which was nice. Porta potty at our site was probably the cleanest one I've ever seen, and didn't stink. We did not have time, but looked like there were kayaks and canoes to rent. Also some trails to walk on the property, which was a plus for us. Can't say there was anything to complain about; will definitely be back!

Weekend Adventure
The hosts were top tier friendly! We were fretted upon our arrival even though it was raining. The hosts go a long way to ensure you are given easy to follow directions. It felt semi-private with a bit of distance between campsites. The views are gorgeous and fresh water allows you to have a ton of fun. Our activities were impacted by the rain but even then it helped me sleep! Watching the sunrise over the waterfront was beyond rejuvenating. My pup definitely had fun and so did we.
