The property is 4.66 acres at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, only 1 mile from the largest recreation area (Doughton Park) on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Longbottom Leaves is a working permaculture homestead. We have two creeks, a (swimming) pond, an off-grid house, a cob pizza oven, a fruit-and-nut orchard, a huge vegetable garden, and over three acres of forest with walking trails through them.
We are only 4 miles from Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. Hiking and fishing are fantastic in both Doughton Park and Stone Mountain SP, and Stone Mountain also has rock climbing routes.
In addition, we are less than a 30-minute drive from about a dozen or so vineyards. Elkin NC is about 40 minutes east, Wilkesboro NC is about 40 minutes south, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 minutes away.We have built a very small (8 ft x 8 ft), off-grid, rustic cottage in the woods with a view of our small waterfall and creek. It has a cute little porch with a bench, a sleeping loft with a full futon mattress and bedding, and an indoor sitting area for kicking back with a book.
It doesn't have electricity, but there are solar lanterns available for nighttime use.
A night in the cottage includes the use of the communal fire pit, communal porch with WIFI, access to potable water at the main house, and indoor flush toilets at the main house (about 75 feet from the cottage).
Guests will be required to walk their belongings to the cabin. Parking is about 100 feet from the cottage.

Emma and Jonathon were great! They allowed us to stay in the cabin on their property instead of the tent side for no extra charge because of high winds and cold temps. They even had coffee for us in the morning and welcomed us in to warm up. If ever back in the area would stay again!
