Peace and Possibilities Our magical farm and forest provides a getaway in the midst of nature sounds and farm animals while being surrounded by adventure opportunities. In the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are between Asheville and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We have horses, mini sheep, chickens, turkeys, peafowl, livestock guardians dogs, and a cat! We also garden and farm and forage the forest, and we want to share it all with you!Walnut Retreat is a 16 ft bell tent located in my favorite part of the property - a walnut grove next to the creek. The site is at the end of an approximately 90 yard trail, which allows for privacy. The outhouse is located closer to the parking area and may be occasionally used by other visitors to the farm. Dappled sunlight, young trees, and the possibility of seeing horses and wildlife make this a very special spot. There is a private fire pit, hammock, and cooler available for your use. We are happy to help carry any of your items when possible. There is currently have a very comfy air mattress available for campers, and we will constantly be upgrading this site. Some improvements that are planned include furnishings (like a queen bed) and an outdoor shower. Wi-fi is available at the parking area and communal picnic table, but you will likely be able to enjoy the disconnect at your camp site. You are welcome to add a tent on the ground next to the deck, and we have one available to borrow. WORKING FARM: Intrepid Acres is a working farm, which comes with interesting sounds and smells. Most guests revel in it! One thing that new visitors may not be familiar with is our working livestock guardian dogs. They stay with the sheep and poultry all night and will bark if they perceive a threat. It is not common for them to bark for long, and we will generally be awoken and go investigate. PETS: The pet fee is refundable less $10. I have set it like this so that guests understand that we are a working farm with free range chickens and a cat and working livestock guardian dogs. So this is NOT a situation that an average pet dog would excel in. I am a certified animal behavior consultant and trainer and can offer boarding in our home if you would like to bring your pet but give them some distance from the livestock or if you need a place to leave your pet while you do some sightseeing.
