Town Of Canandaigua Onanda Park

Canandaigua, Ontario, New York
Onanda Park stands out as the largest park in the Town of Canandaigua, offering a unique blend of lakeside beauty and upland wilderness. Nestled along County Road 16, this expansive park encompasses 80 acres, divided into a serene 7-acre lakeside area and a sprawling upland section. Visitors can enjoy a variety of amenities, including 15 cozy cabins, 5 pavilions, and 3 lodges, making it an ideal destination for family gatherings and outdoor adventures. The upland area, which houses 7 of the cabins, features 73 acres of picturesque hillsides and a scenic two-mile hiking trail that winds through pristine wilderness. Guests can take in breathtaking views of the lake from the pavilions and partake in winter activities such as sledding and snowshoeing. Additionally, the uplands provide overflow parking for those visiting the lakeside section. Originally established as a YWCA Camp just before the turn of the century, Onanda Park was acquired in 1989 through a collaborative effort between New York State and the Town of Canandaigua, officially opening to the public in 1990. This year-round recreational area is perfect for fishing, swimming, and enjoying family picnics, making it a beloved spot for both
