We bought this property at the tax auction at the end of 2015. The previous owner was a hoarder of mostly cool reusable things that we have been sorting through and making sense of for the past year. There are a few boats and campers that we are demoing to build more little cabins! The junk is mostly on 3 acres of the property and the remaining 100 acres are just magic forest and fields with springs, streams, blueberries and mushrooms galore! We lived in this little gem all last year, while we were building our cabin, and it was magical! I spent the summer alone in it and it was life changing! This year we moved into the main cabin, just over the hill, and are offering the Winnebago cabin for rent. I raise fiber animals and hand spin, and crochet winter garments and Carlos sells artisan products from Guatemala. I am originally from Australia and Carlos is from Spain. Learn more about this land: The Winnebago sleeps 4 with two full sized beds. Camping is also an option ($40 per tent/two people) if you want to bring a few more friends, but needs to be discussed with us first. There is a beautiful little, mossy, field across from the spring to pitch tents. You can drive right up to the location, but we are on a rough dirt road, so 4wd is recommended. If you cannot drive up, it is only a short distance (5min) to walk in. Free Wifi (yup...most places up here are lucky to get data to your phone, let alone cable internet! (AT&T works great for cellphone coverage) Although we recommend unplugging :) Electricity-lights included. There is a large fridge outside and a mini fridge inside. There is an outdoor kitchen with stove, sink and hot, spring fed outdoor shower too! There are 103 acres of woods and trails to roam with a beautiful stream (15 min hike)There is also a little spring fed pool (2 min walk) for quick summer cool off dips, if you don’t want to drive to the big rivers. Summitville, NY is surrounded by forests and wetlands. Sam's Point reserve for insane hiking, views, and ice caves. The Bashakill is a beautiful place to kayak or stop at the winery. The Neversink river and Sandburg creek are nearby for swimming. 45mins to Kingston/Woodstock, 35mins to New Paltz, 35mins to Narrowsburg/Callicoon, 1.5 hrs to NYC. There is a lovely train ride via NJTransit to Middletown or Otisville (20 min cab ride or bike ride?!?!) or the Shortline bus with different options (direct 1.5 hrs to Monticello, then 20min cab) or there is a longer bus that takes you to Wurtsboro and even Summitville (5mins away) Wurtsboro is our main town and is small and quite quirky. There is a synagogue that was transformed into a crystal store, a new library, Danny’s Pub and restaurant, a Harley Davidson dealer and a great little Health Food store. Ellenville is 10 mins north of us with quite a few restaurants with farm to table offerings. Giovanni's does pizza Wednesday nights outside in the brick oven! We are a homestead farm, so you can cuddle with chickens, puppies, kitties, mini pigs, rescued squirrels and of course, angora bunnies :)

Spring Cabin with Bunnies & Piggies
Ambika, Carlos and Jesse are wonderful, friendly people! We enjoyed chatting with them and hearing their stories very much. What a perfect escape from city life. Doesn't get much better than a sunny fall day taking a shower outside, cooking on an awesome outdoor kitchen setup, then spending all night by the fire. Make sure to pack layers and bundle up at night as the early morning hours are quite brisk even with the space heater provided. Located not far from town, but still very private and secluded on 100 acres of land! It was also so great meeting the piggies (they have such funny personalities). Missing the clean fresh mountain air already and looking to return again soon!

Magical woodland respite
Mama Mountain Farm is a unique, woodland respite from the fast paced world beyond. The camper is roomy enough to sleep 4, but you'll want to spend most of your time lazing about in the hammock, sitting at the out door picnic table and cooking in the large 'everything that's old is new again' exterior summer kitchen. I had trepidations about the outdoor curtain-less shower and the doorless out house, but both offered enough privacy to ease the nerves of the shyest in the group, if that doesn't do it for you, simply bring a tension rod, hang a curtain and shower at night. Jesse, our greeter, was a delight, she gave us some history of the farm, her's and the of the resident owner's back to the land, green lifestyle choices and introduced us to the animals. Ambika's thoughtful touches included headlamps, thick woolen blankets, books, fans and all the pots and pans you would ever need for plein air feasting! Wurtsboro's G-Mart (IGA) is only a short ride away, stock up before you arrive, so you can relax and kick back (salt, oil, butter, milk, coffee...not supplied, do pre-purchase firewood and a dozen farm eggs when booking Mama Mountain, for a deliciously fresh and tasty omelettes or fry!) The road in was a challenge, but all a part of the backwoods charm and adventure, nothing a 4-wheel drive can't handle. Once you arrive, you'll have a great sense that it was all worth it!

Really sweet camper in the forest. It's a short walk from Ambika's main house but the camper and campsite is totally private. The animals are such an added bonus to visit each day! The camper is clean and really cozy. The bed was really comfortable and falling asleep to the sound of the forest every night was amazing. There's a small kitchen inside the camper if you didn't want to cook in the outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen has everything you'd need to prepare and cook food and has great shelter. As another reviewer mentioned, walking to the outhouse when it's dark is a bit scary, but totally safe and there's nothing to worry about. Definitely bring a head lamp to walk around at night! Ambika was such a lovely and generous host, the farm fresh eggs were incredible. If you have time, definitely stop into Mountain Dale, such a cute small town with a little of everything (coffee, restaurants, bar, vintage shop, home goods, yoga, etc.)

Our magical family vacation...
Truly a magical trip from start to finish. Everything about this lodging site is even better than described in its listing. Our 3.5yr old had just the best time with all the animals and running through the many acres of fairy tale like forest that the site sits on. Ambika was the perfect host and gave us great tips for where to explore in the area. The cabin itself is so cozy and adorable and the outdoor kitchen was such a fabulous bonus amenity. Seriously everything you need is included. We are very smitten with Spring Cabin (and the piggies) and can’t wait to return again! Thank you for the perfect getaway for our family.
