Bugs In a Jar Farm is about 15 miles south of Ithaca, in the beautiful Finger Lakes. It is almost adjacent to the Finger Lakes Hike and Bike Trail. The land consists of 14 acres of forest and open space, with a beautiful creek and several small ponds. Hummingbird House is our original tiny house, but we have since added two more: Blue Dragon, and Piney Breezes, so please check them out if Hummingbird is booked or does not fit your needs (i.e., if you would prefer a larger bed). The space "Hummingbird House," as the name implies, is a true TINY house, measuring seven feet by seven feet indoors (with decks in front and back). Please note that the bed has a TWIN mattress, measuring 39 inches wide, so couples may be a little squeezed on the bed. Hummingbird is located just steps away from the community kitchen and bathroom. It is the only unit that has heat, and the wifi connection is rock solid. It has its own dedicated fire ring and picnic table. Do note that, due to its close proximity to the community kitchen and bathroom, it is not quite so private as the other two tiny houses. Due to its small size, Hummingbird is not the right choice for kids, but for those who want the most convenient and easiest access to all the other amenities (and parking), this would be your choice. Guest access Each tiny house listing includes access to the tiny house itself, and the area immediately surrounding it. Each comes with its own picnic table and fire ring. Guests will share a common outdoor community kitchen and the bathroom inside the host's cabin. The two tiny houses I am finishing up will also have their own outhouses, so guests can use those or the bathroom in the house. Other things to note Please note that the tiny house listed here has a TWIN mattress measuring 39 inches wide. The two other tiny houses both have a DOUBLE/FULL mattress measuring 54 inches wide.

This was a unique place. The cabin was tiny but clean. The bed was comfortable. I will definitely visit again.

Hummingbird House at Bugs In a Jar
A nature oasis!
Sam is a wonderful host and has created an beautiful oasis to rest in. The hummingbird house is perfect for one person, though I hope to come back for a nature retreat to one of the other tiny houses in the woods. This is camping with comforts- you have access to a decently stocked outdoor kitchen, wifi, flush toilet, hot shower, fire pit, plenty of chairs to sit and enjoy the views. Sam even made an awesome blackberry cobbler from scratch with his hand picked blackberries from the farm. I loved sitting out under the moon with a bonfire and having a slow morning on the little back deck facing the creek with some coffee. It was a bit cold/rainy the first night and Sam offered an electric blanket and space heater if needed. This spot is a solid 30 min drive from Ithaca and many of the state parks/waterfalls. I would definitely return next time I need an escape from city living. Thanks for everything Sam!

Bed bugs
There was a bedbug in my cabin and I left early. Upon telling Sam of my experience, he said it was not a bedbug and was not friendly at all. I would like my money back HipCamp.

Sam was super awesome as a host. Our site was clean and Sam offered a lot of firewood to keep us warm. Would definitely come again if I'm visiting Ithaca.

Great family camping site
Sam has a wonderful set up with tent sites and tiny houses. He is very friendly and accommodating. We loved the site with the Gazelle tent and my kids enjoyed exploring the woods and pond. The outdoor kitchen was useful and the drinking water was fresh and cold. Thanks Sam for a fabulous stay! We can’t wait to come back.
