Fairview Farm was established in 1922. The land was purchased by David and Anna Olson who emigrated from Sandhem, Sweden in the late 1800's. They first lived in New York City before purchasing the farm and moving Upstate. The country must have felt much more like their rural Swedish homeland. The farm was originally a dairy farm and was past down to their son Einar and his wife Eveleen. Eventually, it was past tow their daughter Claire and her husband Hubert Leber. The farm is now owned by their son William and daughter Anne. Matthew Olson is now the fifth generation to run the farm and is your host. The farm currently has goats, chickens, ducks, livestock guard dogs, honey bees, and gardens. Many of the fields are cut for hay each summer. One of the missions of the farm is to be sustainable and also provide habitat for wildlife including deer, birds, and pollinators.  Pitch your tent among the wildflowers in an old farm orchard.  We provide a picnic table, fire ring, outhouse, and incredible views of the northern Catskill Mountains.  Fairview Farm is a working farm that has been in our family since 1922. A former dairy farm, we are now home to a herd of goats, three livestock guard dogs, flocks of chickens and ducks, beehives, and vegetable and flower gardens.  There is a small farm stand where you can purchase eggs and other farm products. The farm is 150 acres including approximately 100 acres of woodland.  The Tenmile Creek runs through part of the farm and is a New York State Dept. of Conservation public access fishing stream. The second generation to own the farm provided the public easement to the state.  Maps of the farm and several walking trails are provided.  Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent among the wildflowers in an old farm orchard.  We provide a picnic table, fire ring, outhouse, and incredible views of the northern Catskill Mountains.  Fairview Farm is a working farm that has been in our family since 1922.
