Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Kentara Farm is a 3rd generation macadamia, cattle and lemon farm in the picturesque hinterland surrounding Byron Bay.
Just 30mins from Byron Bay, 15mins from Lennox Head, 20mins to Ballina...Mt Warning, The Richmond River, Killen Falls, Byron Bay Light House, Watego Beach, Bangalow and The Bangalow Markets, Lake Ainsworth, The Macadamia Castle... I could go on and on about how much there is to see and do in this beautiful part of the world. But I won't. You'll just have to come and stay, and discover it for yourself!
We have space, scenic views, abundant wildlife with a mix of peace and quiet and the slow but steady pace of a working farm.
Your Camp Site...
There are a few locations on farm you might like to camp, we can show you these at the time of meet and greet. Currently we are only taking one booking at time, so you won't be disturbed by other campers.
Facilities...
There are no 'public' facilities on farm. You'll need to bring your own everything e.g. toilet, shower, water... and you'll need to take your rubbish with you. There is a local dumping point at BP Ballina truck stop.
Farm Life...
Kentara is a working farm so there is always the chance you'll get woken by the sound of a mower, or one of the farm vehicles on its way to here or there. We try to start work fairly early to avoid the heat of the day.
Farm Access...
There is a gravel road as the main access to the farm making getting into and out of camping spot a breeze.
Parties...
If you are looking for a party location, this NOT the Hip Camp for you. If you are looking for a quiet location, this IS the Hip Camp for you!
Macadamia's t take home...
Ask us about our Farm Gate Sales during harvest. Harvest typically runs between March - September. During this time we have 1kg, 2kg, 3kg.... right up to 20kg backs of nut in shell to sale direct to the public.
Macadamia Trees....
Want your very own macadamia tree to take home? Ask us about this during your stay. We have some in propagation for purchase.Kentara Farm is a 3rd generation macadamia, cattle and lemon farm in the picturesque hinterland surrounding Byron Bay.
Your caravan, camper, camper trailer or 4WD can pull up easily from the gravel road onto the grassy knoll just next to the pool *pool for resident use only. Its relatively flat ground so it won't take much to level up and set up, giving you plenty of time to start exploring what the Northern NSW region has to offer. This camp site is nestled in between the two main farm houses and gives you a chance to say g'day and get to know us during your stay. You will be the only campers on the property which means you won't have to fight the crowds like you would elsewhere.
Or you can camp at the front of the property near the lemon and orange grove for easy access to the road. This site has a slope and would suit a set up that can is self levelling or can be levelled up manually.
There is also a great little spot out the back, near the old dairy.
As the farm is "in work" all year round, we welcome campers taking strolls along the main driveway however ask you stay out of the orchards and away from the farm shed.
The site does not have access to water or electricity and is best for campers who are fully self sufficient.
Just down the road is the Tintenbar General Store where you can get fuel, gas bottle exchange, groceries, bottle-o and you can even post a letter via the local Australia Post outlet.
You'll feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! But we are only 30mins to the iconic Byron Bay, 15mins to the post card perfect Lennox Head and short 20mins drive to Ballina.
You must be fully self sufficient as there is no access to potable or non-potable water, and no shower or toilet facilities.
Unfortunately fires and firepits are also a no go at Kentara. However, if you wanted this sort of camping experience search 'Jarbia Acres Hip Camp' to book with our neighbours just down the road.
