Bebrue was created in 1972 when 8¼ acres of natural bushland on the top of Mount Gibraltar (“The Gib”) at Mittagong was donated to the Girl Guides Association for the establishment of a camping and outdoors facility. Today, the site offers a well-protected camping facility set amongst beautiful, natural surrounds that are ideal for many activities. The adjacent north-east side of Mount Gibraltar offers walking trails to explore. The Mount Gibraltar Forest is significant due to its rarity, being identified as an endangered and threatened ecological community. The unique geology of the area supports a collection of flora that, as an assemblage, does not exist outside of The Gib. One very important resident of The Gib that you may meet is the extremely rare Powerful Owl. Bebrue is one of the largest privately own properties on The Gib and Girl Guides have always worked hard to protect the natural bush at Bebrue. Bebrue has also been recognised by the Mount Gibraltar Landcare and Bushcare Group as being an important local wildlife corridor. It is a member of Land for Wildlife. Bebrue is run by volunteers and all funds generated go back into improving the facility for use by the Girl Guides and wider community.****Please note: no one lives at Bebrue - you are greeted by our bookings officer and then left alone to enjoy exclusive use of the site**** No caravans, campervans etc are permitted at the site, strictly tent/swag/under the stars camping only*** Bebrue is located moments to Mittagong and Bowral town centres and is the perfect spot to base yourself whilst you explore the beautiful Southern Highlands. This is a family friendly property - perhaps the perfect place to take your kids camping for the first time, or maybe even yourself! With close access to the supermarkets, restaurants and convenience of town amenities - you will feel like you are tucked up in your bush getaway, but so close to amenities. The cleared campsite can accommodate many campers- you are guaranteed exclusive use of the property when you book. On the campground there is a campfire circle (please check with local Rural Fire Brigade regarding fire restrictions) and - if you are considering a private bush wedding - a consecrated chapel. There is also a cleared cooking fires area. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers available plus our undercover t-shed with power, picnic tables, urn and potable water. Unfortunately there is no garbage collection at the property - please take it with you. The campground does have neighbours - so if it is a boisterous weekend you are after - this may not be the spot for you. Bebrue is a Girl Guide property and is administered by a volunteer committee - any funds generated will go back into improving the facilities at the site - all improvement suggestions are gratefully accepted. Fantastic campsite. We had an 8 year old and two 2 year olds and there was so much for them to do. Felt like you were in the middle of nowhere but also had a quick drive to Bowral or Mittagong for any requirements. The hosts were fantastic, very helpful and clear with their communication. Looking forward to heading back.

Amazing location, close to everything but you feel as if you are in the middle of the bush. Great facilities and heaps of space to spread out. Highly recommend if you are heading to the southern highlands

One of the best campsites around

We’ve stayed three times now and can’t fault the place. It’s convenient, full of wildlife and a beautiful patch. Best of all it’s exclusive use which is just so unique. I love the space, the facilities and the little zones around the campground. Can’t recommend it enough.

The camping area was spacious. The facilities were very good. There were lots of bird calls at dawn and sunset.
