Just three short miles from Oliver Lee State Park, our primitive camp doesn't yet have all of the amenities of the state park, but we offer amenities the park doesn't! Your Camp Host, Chef Üdø, is onsite most days and evenings, and has 30 years' experience in the catering and private chef biz, and as a camp host. He's happy to coordinate hot meals for you and your companions! No more need to go into town to get a pizza or some icky fast food! We will make you a homemade pizza, dry-aged steak, brined chicken, buffalo burger, or lasagna...all in-house. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! We'll bake you a birthday cake, brownies, pie, or even Crème brûlée! Contact Chef Üdø for more details and please check out our menu in the “Extras” section of our campsite listing. We can make just about anything in our sanitary kitchen facilities. We cook with a spirit of Love and inclusion in our kitchen, and it shows! ❤️ Chef Üdø maintains current local food handler's certification, as well as HAACP federal certification. Prices are friendly and competitive with local restaurants. Vacuum-sealed frozen meals, aka “sous vide” available for most recipes. (Please check “extras” section for more detail) We offer a 15amp electrical connection, access to clean running water, and access to our 4 acre back pasture. And if you prefer a more luxurious camping experience, we offer a BnB experience in our amazing rooftop tent!! Camping with delicious food!
This was a delightful place to rest our heads during my trip to White Sands and Carlsbad. The site itself is about 20 minutes from White Sands national park and a 3 hour drive to Carlsbad. Chef Udo did an excellent job communicating and really prioritized our enjoyment during our meal and stay at his property. Not even mentioning the delightful convenience of not having to think about dinner after a long day of hiking, the food itself was phenomenal and went way beyond any expectations I might have had. We went for the burgers and the smoked cheese, and both were delightfully smoky and full of nuanced flavor. We were completely satisfied by the end of that meal, and enjoyed some nice conversation with Chef Udo. The campsite was flat and not rocky and had more than enough space for our car, tent, and a couple of chairs. The area is pretty dark as is, and Chef made a point to turn off all his lights so we could enjoy some of the most spectacular star gazing I have ever seen. I would highly recommend this site if you are looking for a unique and enjoyable camping experience.

A+, 100%, *THIS* is the place
A massive highlight on a month's long trip camping throughout the Southwest. Chef Udo is the real deal and I highly recommend you add on every single extra your stomach can take. The burger was the best burger I've ever had. It's true that I formed this thought before finishing the meal but I waited a few days before writing this review. And it's still true. The space is great and is getting better by the day. I don't know how the food can improve any but I bet it is. Because people like Chef Udo do what they do out of love for the craft and after speaking with this man for just 5 minutes, its evident he's overflowing with love for the craft. The craft of cooking, feeding, and creating a meaningful experience for others. The craft of hospitality. The craft of supplying a memorable stop on any road trip through the Southwest. All hail Chef Udo. All hail New Mexico. I can't wait to come back.

An Oasis
Chef Üdø made me and my family the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. Right before entering the desert from Louisiana on my journey across country; I found chef Üdø on Hipcamp. 20 minutes away from White Sands National Park. We all were very excited about going to white sands but I was getting excited about the details on the feast that this man was preparing. With his first message, I quickly realized that this was a master chef, and within a couple of days, I wanted to be at chef Üdø more than I wanted to be in white sands. When we arrived after being soaked up by the desert dinner was almost ready. He said exactly what time it would be ready which is the time we chosen and, the food was ready at that time. It was like watching artist presenting his masterpiece. We ordered steak and enchiladas. Took one bite and we were in heaven. My 6 year old daughter is a very picky eater and, she cleaned the plate. I immediately wanted him to sit with me and my family. I asked him about the enormous mountain ridge wall that is almost literally on his property and he started telling me about every detail of it. I immediately wanted to take a personal tour. Udo turned out to be an awesome person. I felt like I was sitting down with a close friend that I’ve known forever. Every part of this experience, I will never forget. No words can describe it. This stop has become a major part of my journey I had amazing food and I made a good friend. And the omelette was incredible

LOVED this space! As a solo camper I felt very comfortable and would definitely recommend. My one night turned into two days:) Do not sleep on Chef's meals! I had the best Vegan Enchiladas of my life. They were so kind, accommodating, and had excellent recommendations. Lincoln National Forrest is not to be missed. THANK YOU for such a wonderful stay... catch you at flipside!

Great dinner and very accomodating
We loved being served by Udo, we had the fajita feat and some cookies to go that were both amazing. Unfortunately due to the adverse weather conditions we were not able to take full advantage of the camping site, but the owner was willing to work with us and we were still able to have a great dinner prepared by him at the end of the day. I would love to come here again the next time I am in NM :^)

Camping on Chęf-Üdø’s land was super easy and convenient, a perfect end to a long days drive. The desert landscape is host to a myriad of wildlife including quail, lizards, beetles, and more! Chęf-Üdø was a wonderful and generous host and chef. The smoked brisket nachos and omletes were spledid and savory! The chocolate ship oatmeal cookies melted in our mouths. Expect big skies and delicious food!
