Nice community

It just depends on what your needs are. There's are community of people here and it's good for that. We found it far too windy and ended up leaving to head to picture rocks instead.

We spent just a night here but it was really perfect. The restrooms are perfectly clean and the laundry too. The best is that Gene is an host so kind and helpful. He made a little place of paradise in the middle of nowhere. If we pass again in Animas, we'll surely come black at Smuggler's roost.

Curly is very responsive and was available immediately when I arrived to guide me to my campsite. Worked fine as an overnight camping stop while traveling. Wouldn't be a camping destination for me.

Quiet!
10 m travel trailer
We enjoyed our stay in Smugglers Roost. It is a small town but there are awesome hiking trails within an hours drive. The camp is quiet and the people are very friendly! The night sky’s are awesome! If we are this way again I would definitely stay again!

Worked fine as an overnight stop point between Las Cruces, NM and Tucson, AZ (we hate long drive days). Easy to level, full hookups were great. Other than that, it’s a big dirt field. For what it was, it was fine for us but not someplace to go as a destination.
