Best in New Mexico: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2024.
The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country. We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site (but 7) has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible. We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can. And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

Place of peace
I camped there back in August with my grandson and it was awesome! 6 weeks ago I felt like the Lord was calling me away by myself to the exact same spot. I arrived around 1:00 pm on Saturday and left Tuesday morning around 2:00 a.m. Landon was gracious and letting me come early. And I really appreciated that. This was a sabbatical for me and the Lord did not disappoint. There were questions that were answered and there were answers for questions that I wasn't asking. It was a very special time. Very private, there was one camper there when I got there Saturday and he was gone on Sunday I had the whole place to myself. Very quiet very peaceful, it is my place of Peace for sure. I will be back! Five stars all the way I love the fact that it is so far off the main road.

Star Gazer!

This was our second stay at Enchanted Circle. And it was great again. We love this place even more now, and we're determined to stay at every spot now. You're kinda close to the other star gazer sight but not too close. Just enough to see them every now and then. It's more of a big group site but that's all that was available and we enjoyed it. Definitely more on the open side. The views were great! And we were visited by a huge piggy in the morning. Thanks again Landon for the awesome place. We'll be back!

Exceptional Find
Whilst exploring the area we’d planned on camping in the National Forest until we found this gem. Such a great campsite for my pup and I. Being able to let her off-leash the whole time and how separated the Cliffs site was made it a perfect break in a long road trip. Will definitely be returning 🙏

This was our first time camping at E>> and we had a great time. The campsite was very clean and well maintained. Even though you are close to town and the activities of Angel Fire it feels like you are deep in the woods. This site had plenty of space and a great combination of shade and sunlight for solar and Starlink (not needed). We have Goggle Fi and AT&T and had great 5G service at our site. We will definitely come back and try and stay a little longer to explore more. Thanks for an easy low stress weekend!

Lovely Stay
Really charming land and beautifully set amongst the New Mexico wilderness. I had pretty much the whole place to myself and was treated to a visit from a few animals— definitely a highlight! While it did rain the whole time, I’d definitely come back to spend time here at ECC :)

Exceptional camping in NM
Tent · With kids ·
This was our third year to stay at ECC and it keeps getting better! We really can't say enough great things about camping here. The sites are perfectly maintained, the restrooms are well cleaned, and the views are wonderful. My girls love playing volleyball and going down to visit all the critters, too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
