Awesome, funky vibe!
Second time staying at Art City and it was once again awesome! They've worked hard to make improvements on the campsites, making them more defined and accommodating with tables and fire pits. Communal area, kitchen, and, showers are super great. The art itself gives this place a funky vibe and are mesmerizing to look at when they're lit up at night. Would recommend this place to anyone!

I’m going back
My stay here was great!! The people were friendly and helpful.
It’s a 40-acre track with artwork scattered all over the property. There are various and interesting options for staying there.
I’m going back

Super cool spot. Love that people put their creative juices in the world for folks to enjoy. Really enjoyed walking the winding paths between installations. The way they meandered reminded me of walking a labyrinth. Very meditative!

Art City Is Awesome!
This is a very cool, eclectic spot to stop just off I40 when heading East or West near Tucumcari. This area has the basic dingy roadside hotels, but a much better idea is to stay at Art City where you can camp in your van, tent, or one of their unique lodging units (see photos). There are art installations throughout, and an absolutely gorgeous sauna, hot tub/spa area to enjoy under the massive cottonwood trees. Matty is an excellent host, and the other guests and artists in residence were excellent to meet and trade stories with over coffee in the community kitchen area. I have been coming through here on the Austin <—> Colorado route for decades, and finally there is a rad spot to stay and soak and vibe right in the middle of the trip!

As a tent camper I appreciated a flat area to set up my 10’ x 10’ tent and enjoyed having a full size picnic table to use. It was hot during my stay but there was plenty of shady spots throughout that provided a respite from the sun. I even spent some time in a couple of the hammock spots.
My favorite thing about camping at Art City was the amazing outdoor kitchen area. So much easier to brew my morning coffee on the gas stove instead of using a campfire.
Matty and his Team are a fun bunch to be around. I plan to come back often as it’s along my route to and from Las Vegas, NV to the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
They’ve done a wonderful job of turning a 40 acre ranch area into a place where you can experience camping and art in a natural environment.
The town of Tucumcari is a mere 6 miles from Art City. They have a nice laundromat and a decent grocery store in town plus restaurants and gas stations. And it is an easy off and on to the interstate. I plan to stop by again because it’s an ideal stop along my route.

Go to Art City!
We absolutely loved our time in Art City and meeting Matty and his crew. Everybody was so kind and hospitable. Matty has such an awesome vision for the land and the town itself. This is a great place for people to come through that are creatives, artists and entrepreneurs. We particularly loved the spa amenities. Explore the art on the property at night and early morning (sunrise was awesome). It was wayyy cool seeing some pieces from Burning Man going to good use off the playa!
