A Wonderland you shouldn't miss!
What a magical place! Art City wins the Hipcamp hidden treasure of the year award, in my book. This place will transport you to another planet. The massive, mind-blowing installation art would be worth the drive from literally wherever to experience and climb on. The photos don't do the scale of the art justice. But Art City has even more on offer. The locale is as serene and peaceful as any secluded forest retreat. There is abundant wildlife. Deer, cows, turkeys, owls, eagles, and quail were all around during my stay. I spent more hours in the hot tub and sauna than I care to admit. There is a huge benefit to booking overnight stay too. The place transforms quite a bit after the sun sets. The art and the lighting creates a completely different experience after dark. Some of the art is specifically designed to be enjoyed at night. I saw tons shooting stars from that hot tub.
The facilities had a definite high-end feel. The open kitchen and dining patio were perfect. The bathrooms and showers were all clean and well-maintained. I felt fortunate to meet Matty, the creator of this wild idea. Benigno was a gracious host and I was treated to a thorough tour of the art and lodging options and facilities. The value for tent camping is phenomenal. But the cabins, bunk house, and trailers were all clean and well maintained and worth consideration. I spent 3 days exploring the art and relaxing at this wonderland. I left feeling relaxed and recharged. Can't wait to return!

Place is Amazing!
Hard to explain how nice this place is. It’s definitely luxury camping. The bathhouse, showers with tankless (meaning always hot) water, the excellent wood fired hot tub, the well appointed open kitchen, all the space. And then there’s the art! Especially spectacular at night, but cool during the day too. Some very high quality sculptures, most from Burning Man.

Art City was a perfect place for this car camper. Pleasant vistas, quiet setting, and fun large art pieces (connected by a meandering trail) made the stay memorable. Next time, I will use the generous outdoor kitchen and maybe the trailer glamping sites.

Art!
Awesome stay at Art City! The tent sites were very nice and well taken care of, even with trash cans at each site and outhouse toilets close by. The kitchen area is a huge plus if you are looking to cook for yourself while camping here, even stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. Close by to the kitchen there is a sauna and a hot tub for anyone’s use at Art City.
The art itself is truly stunning especially at night with the lights, we walked around for a while after it got dark to take pictures. Loved the stay and Matty is great!

Yep
Súper place to stay and one night was not enough. A great reason to travel to Tucumcari! Marty was super communicative, and Kevin, the on site GM really helpful. The set up is really user friendly, with communal kitchen and toilets and good water. Paths meander through cottonwood groves and are lit at night. The trees seem to dance! Our night was starlit and the temperature was magic. Our pup raced with the resident dog Noodles and a few other camping dogs. It was tough to leave. Oh. I didn’t mention the art. It’s cool, and the back story is interesting. But the biggest takeaway is good people doing good things in a town ripe for revitalization. Go see. Stay. Stay longer. ❤️

An absolutely amazing place to stay. The on-site host (Kevin) was great and made sure we had everything we needed. The showers had endless hot water - always appreciated on the road. And the bathrooms were clean. The art there was awesome as well. Definitely the most unique place I’ve stayed. And it’s not too far out of town if you need any creature comforts. The outdoor kitchen was so nice too. We had everything we needed to cook and clean up, so we didn’t have to do it all in the van. As mentioned before, the campsites are fairly close together, but it’s shown in the pictures and the neighbors were all respectful and quiet. We’ll be back next time we pass through!
