The Hummingbird Center is an recreation destination and permaculture farm nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We offer a variety of lodging options ranging in cost from tent camping and shared bunk rooms to private indoor lofts, tiny homes, and school buses. In May of 2024, Nourish restaurant will be open during weekends at HBC, providing organic farm-to-table meals for the public and our guests–both indoor and outdoor seating is available. Thanks to our farm’s extensive perennial food system, Nourish has a rotating seasonal menu featuring fruit, herbs, and wild greens grown onsite. Call ahead for up-to-date details on hours and what’s in bloom! HBC is a retreat destination for mountain biking, skiing, and hiking, with private access to Green Woodland’s 23,000 acres of public trails next door! Our trails feature hand and machine-built features for riders of all skill levels. Under an hour of driving will get you to Mt. Moosilauke on the Appalachian Trail, renowned climbing at the Rumney Crags, and dozens of pristine NH lakes. Back on the farm, our swimming holes, hammocks, and communal fire pit offer peace and community connection after a full day of outdoor adventures. Guests are encouraged to recreate and restore amidst the natural beauty of our rural property, explore our orchards and vegetable gardens, and enjoy open-air, leisurely dining at our on-farm restaurant. Van/Car Camp Site 2 @ Hummingbird

The Hummingbird is the best!

The hummingbird is a delightful place to stay. I had a private place to car camp that was close enough to an outhouse and was a beautiful short walk by the ponds and gardens to the main house where there is an absolutely amazing restaurant with the most delicious homemade food made with love and homegrown ingredients. I look forward to my next day here!

Such a beautiful place to visit. The people are wonderful that work there and seem to truly enjoy where they are. Food was very thought out and delicious. Property was large and beautiful enough we could have spent the whole weekend enjoying it. But is surrounded by a bunch of fun places around within driving distance. Will 100% come back in the future.

Van/Car Camp Site 5 @ Hummingbird

The camping at the Hummingbird center was great. There's a field closer to the main building for tent camping, or sites a bit further away tucked away in the forest where we stayed. It was quiet and private. If you can you should get a meal at the restaurant, it was fantastic!

Home away from home

This place was absolutely lovely! It has beautiful views, mountain biking, and amazing food! I would 100% recommend staying here or just eating at the restaurant🙂 I will definitely be going back.

Tiny House (Valerian) @ Hummingbird

The good, bad and ugly.

I should have done more research before booking. Our three year old was expecting to see farm animals but he was happy to see chickens. The king size bed was amazing in the cabin we booked. It felt nice to sleep next to everyone. Food was great until I got cornbread with my saag paneer. Some things just don’t go together. Plus, the audacity to charge full price for mix n match menu items. Cleaned and quietly left the next morning. I would come back when this place is more established. Right now, I feel as if they are trying to make a name for themselves. We would come back indefinitely if we didn’t have a toddler. Thank you for hosting us.

Tent Platform Site 1 @ Hummingbird

Magical Place!

This place is simply magical!!! My wife and I came to tent camp for a night while we hiked in the Franconia Notch area and we left thankful for having met Josh and his team, having discovered a beautiful, whimsical, farm where an example of sustainability, service and fun is alive and well. We set up our tent on platform #1 with a fabulous view of the field, the chickens and the mountains behind. We were lucky to have been on Memorial Day weekend because they had just opened the food truck and there was an excellent band playing music on their open stage! The house is amazing with a huge yoga room, several family rooms for rent and an awesome and beautifully built library which can also be rented as a room. Wandering the grounds we discovered all sorts of interesting spots including a funky ‘outdoor kitchen’, a swimming hole, multiple permaculture gardens and green houses, and even a wood burning hot tub which we enjoyed in the evening with Josh and a few of the team. The Hummingbird Center is HIGHLY Recommended and we will definitely be back again, and again!!!!
