Montana Red Devon Ranch is owned and managed by Jenny Kahrl. Her boys Riley and Kiril were raised on the ranch and often help with cattle, land, and maintenance. We have chosen Red Devon cattle for their history (originally from Devonshire England, Devons arrived in North America in 1624!), their docility, and their gourmet beef. Our cattle eat only grass, hay, and forages, as Nature intended. We manage our land to protect wildlife and clean water for all, to improve soils, preserve open space, and feed hundreds of our neighbors. All our grassfed beef is sold within 50 miles of the ranch. We also have a deep commitment to sharing our love of land and animals with our community, both near and far. We have hosted international visitors from France, Russia, Japan, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and many many Americans. Jenny Kahrl speaks French fluently. We hope to share our love of this land and its riches with many visitors, for it is only by knowing where our food originates that we can appreciate each farm and farm family for their work to feed America and the world.Snuggled beside a hay shed, beside running water and edged with cottonwoods and hay bales for privacy, three miles from the village of Harrison, MT, this campsite provides spectacular views of the Tobacco Root Mountains smack in the middle of a working cattle ranch.  ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING is available!  Reserve your time slot in the EXTRAS. We raise heritage Red Devon cattle and  and sell grassfed beef in Bozeman and breeding stock cattle from Alberta to Nevada. Many days during summer the cattle herd grazes in the same field in which the campsite sits.  Bald Eagles nest nearby, coyotes and elk sing overnight, and trout abound in South Willow Creek (which runs through the property).  Harrison Lake Reservoir is close by for fishing and boating adventures, the Tobacco Roots are filled with hiking trails, and Yellowstone National Park is only 90 miles away through gorgeous country. Lewis and Clark Caverns, Headwaters State Park, Canyon Ferry, and Bozeman are all within easy driving distance. The Town Haul Diner in Harrison serves breakfast and lunch. Hikes on foot are permitted in fields on the ranch which do not contain livestock.  All visiting dogs must be leashed at all times on the ranch when they are within any field containing cattle, there are fields for "free rein" dog walking.  Bicycles are welcome on the gravel roads of the ranch, and there are good public trails into the mountains behind the village of Pony, 3 miles from the ranch. The Ranch is in Montana FWP BLOCK MANAGEMENT for autumn hunters.

We SHARE and protect the land, and realize that wild animals are the homeowners here, and dogs are the visitors.
Potable water available
Spigot, bottled water or jugs. We provide 2 gallons of delicious sweet potable water at the campsite, and an outdoor spigot with potable water is 500 yards away at the ranch house for infinite refills. During summertime, there is also an irrigation ditch running with LOTS of "wild water" right beside the campsite. (Great for summer bathing!)

Red Devon Ranch offers a tranquil camping experience with stunning views of mountains and abundant wildlife. Many guests highlight the peacefulness of the location, the cleanliness of facilities, and the warm hospitality of the host, Jenny, who often goes above and beyond to make stays enjoyable. Visitors appreciate the chance to engage with farm life, including the opportunity to buy fresh eggs and beef. However, some guests noted the potential for windy conditions, so securing tents properly might be necessary.

We loved our stay at Red Devon Ranch! We arrived later than planned but found our way easily and had a great night's rest. The site was private, peaceful, well kept, and the views we woke up to were incredible. We would definitely stay again if we make our road trip again!

This a fantastic location, with privacy, space, and mountain views. The property is frequented by wildlife including deer, eagles, and hawks. The camping area is nearly a half mile from a quiet road, so there is no noise or traffic. Cows were nearby but the camping area was clean and they did not bother us at all. Water and a porta-john made this a desirable camp for our group.

Loved our time at Red Devon Ranch!!
Tent · With kids
We arrived later than expected, and Jenny still came to greet us with Ceaser the dog! She had already places the meat and eggs we ordered in a cooler for us (a jar of local honey was added too!!!). We forgot ice, and she let us borrow her own ice packs until we got our own! The property was peaceful and had a very large space for our family of 4. There was pushed over grass by the hay shed and that made for amazingly comfortable tent sleeping. The trees to the east made perfect for sun-rise blocking if you didn't want to wake super early. The port-a-potty was 100% the cleanest I've used in my entire life! My daughter loved spending time with Jenny around the cows, and we learned that even females can grow horns! There was water on site, or Kobayashi beach made for great deep water swimming and wasn't too far! The lewis and clark caverns are very close too. Our family had an amazing time staying here and (it was our first family camping trip to yellowstone, and Red Devon Ranch was our first stop from home to there) highly reccomend staying here!!!

Amazing Hipcamp Experience
Tent · With pets
Our family shared a truly amazing experience at Red Devon Ranch. The location and setting of the ranch was truly beautiful: open, surrounded by mountains, a sky full of stars, with the sounds of running water from the creek nearby. Jenny herself was amazingly kind and generous. My 10 year old daughter woke up at 5:30 in the morning and was able to join Jenny for her morning rounds herding cattle, an experience she will never forget! Grass fed beef and eggs are available to campers for purchase, Jenny was kind enough to give us some extra fresh eggs and they were delicious. I wish we had more to take home. The site itself was in the hay loft area of the farm, we were fenced in with a gate so it felt very safe being out in the open and the kids loved climbing the hay bails and watching the sun set and the moon rise! There was a picnic table and port o potty on site. Water was available a short distance away by the farmhouse. We could have easily stayed longer, now I wish we had. Thanks Jenny- I hope we can stay with you again.
