Clyde Home Gun of the Blackfeet Tribe has established this primitive cultural campground to host traveling tourists. The primitive cultural campground serves recreational needs such as campers, bikers and hikers seasonally beginning in the spring and into the early fall. The Home Gun primitive cultural campground also serves as an educational, cultural center for tourists that features Native American storytelling, craft making, dancing and singing. The campground is located adjacent to Glacier National Park off Montana State highway 89 west, a major north south corridor through the reservation, and the south fork Milk River which is situated on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. Access to the site is through the existing gateways situated 50 feet from the road on the south side of highway 89 at Mile Marker 21. "Primitive Camp" is defined as a camping area with no utilities, such as electrical, sewer and running water. The project is a design and a build development project by Clyde Home Gun, a tribal member, on land held in Trust by the United States Government. This was an amazing stay!!! The land is beautiful. I've never seen the milky way so clearly -- although that took a bit of luck with the weather. While we were there, one other tent camper was present. There aren't designated camp areas, so we were able to choose a spot that wouldn't bother the other campers, and vice versa. The area is massive, so that was an easy task. Clyde came down to greet us and he's a super kind guy. I'm not sure he typically greets the campers, but we had a bit of trouble with directions, so he came out to check on us. Regarding the directions, for some reason, we weren't sure if we were in the right spot or not, possibly from overthinking the directions. If anybody experiences this in the future, I'd say a good landmark for knowing you're in the right spot is the white and green RV that Clyde has parked on the site land, as a campsite indicator! Also, Clyde has 2-3 dogs that seem to roam the land. They are the absolute sweetest and greeted us upon arrival. Lastly, there aren't any developed campfire sites. Clyde told us he wants to retain the rugged feel of the experience and land. He instructed us to essentially build our own fire circle with rocks, and do our own thing. This was a super fun aspect of the stay!

Clyde and his land were great! Gorgeous views and plenty of space. Would definitely come back or recommend to anyone staying on the east side of glacier.

Worth It
Clyde came down the road and met us to guide us in. He was reliable, answered the phone quickly and covered off our questions. He guided us onto his 80 acres and showed us the best spots. Secluded, private, beautiful, relaxing, peaceful, quiet and his five horses were fantastic to watch. We loved it and you will too.

This might be my favorite spot I’ve stayed at so far. Though the gate was closed when I got there, the host was quick to notice and help me out. It’s a really beg space with beautiful rolling hills and some nice little spots of trees. The space was large enough that there were three other campers there and I couldn’t see them from my spot. Also there were horses cutting through at night. And you could see the mountains from glacier national park. It was great. Idk if they take rvs or have hookups or whatever. I was just car camping. I would definitely stay here again if I came back this way.
