Beautiful view and the hosts are extremely welcoming and accommodating. The farm fresh eggs were a great option. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Happy Hollow Retreat
Beautiful and Peaceful!
Happy Hollow was the perfect getaway! Robert and Charlene were wonderful hosts. Our fire was ready to light and the firewood was plentiful. We enjoyed the fresh eggs, the beautiful view, and swimming in the creek. I highly recommend getting up to watch the sunrise. The mist over the hills is absolutely beautiful. My kids had a great time performing on the stage and exploring the woods. We really enjoyed chatting with Robert and Charlene. It was so hard to leave! We can’t wait to go back!

Happy Hollow Retreat
Amazing View, Awesome People
Really primitive, but a super cool experience. Hosts are very kind and generous, we enjoyed spending time with them. The sounds of wilderness are very real and it is very far from everything but the view is amazing.

Happy Hollow Retreat
Great Spot
The campsite is on a wooded hill with great views overlooking the banks of the MO. Robert met us and we followed him up to our campsite. He was a gracious host, providing a 12 volt battery with a converter and lights as well as a cooler with a couple of gallons of wonderful well water. This was our first stop on a 2 week camping/road trip and it made for a great first evening.

Happy Hollow Retreat
A happy surprise
A wonderful unexpected find off the beaten path! An amazing mountain spot with the most generous and friendly hosts we have had the privilege to meet. If you are looking for that one of a kind sanctuary away from the hustle of the modern world and just want to relax in a hammock as the sun rises in the distance then check this place out!!!

Happy Hollow Retreat
Bob and Charlene really made us feel welcome — escorting us to the remote camping from the main road (past an impressive array of old boats and vehicles, providing cooked dinners, loads of water (it was hot!), selling us fresh eggs, and sharing history of the area. The camping area is on a tree-covered knoll with a cleared view looking into the Missouri River Valley, and features an eclectic mix of lawn furniture, several large picnic tables, and a stage. The marine toilet, set up in the middle of an old trailer, is unconventional, but so is everything about this place, including Bob and Charlene, which is a big part of Happy Hollow’s funky charm.
