Spring Awakening in a Lakeside Cabin Watch the Minnesota wilderness stretch its legs after a long winter! Up North this time of year, the birds return, Strawberry Lake thaws, the trees pop out their blooms—and you can take a front row seat for the show at this lakeside cabin tucked into the lush spring woods. Built in 2013 by local Minnesota craftsmen, our Strawberry Lake Cabin presents an ideal place for enjoying the outdoors. Spend the day on the big outdoor deck, watching the lake sparkle and relishing the forgotten joy of sun on your skin! Inside, an open common area—including a fully-equipped and gleaming kitchen—faces cathedral windows overlooking the deck, the woods, and the lake. These windows span the width of the house, all the way up to the lofted sleeping area, which is perched at the tree line. If a chill lingers in the air during your getaway, the radiant in-floor heating will warm your toes. A RETREAT FOR COUPLES, FRIENDS & FAMILIES; MOREOVER, A PLACE TO REUNITE WHERE EVERYONE CAN SPREAD OUT Experience the easy romance of tucking into nature together and shaking off the stresses of everyday life. From the loft bedroom, views of an unpolluted Minnesota sky full of stars will lull you into a deep sleep, and the green, flowering woods will greet you first thing in the morning. No matter who you’re traveling with, we highly recommend a canoe trip out on Strawberry Lake. We will provide the canoe for you! And the water here is calm and peaceful, with less motorboat traffic than on many of the lakes in this area. Not to mention the water clarity: spring-fed Strawberry Lake is so clear; you can see almost 17 feet straight down to the bottom! And this time of year, the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, located just three miles away, is a spectacular place for a hike or a bike ride. When you get back from outdoor adventuring, heat up the gas grill and get your energy back with a perfectly cooked lakeside burger. Or, maybe you'd like to be pampered and treated to a local homemade catered breakfast, lunch or dinner - we can help make that happen. One more spring activity we can’t forget: May marks the beginning of the fishing season! An early-spring morning is never better than when it’s spent on the calm, clear waters of Minnesota's lakes.Technicolor Autumn in a Timeless Cabin - Strawberry Lake Cabin Few places can brag about autumns as astonishingly brilliant as the ones we enjoy Up North in the wilds of Minnesota. And, this log cabin, built by local Minnesota craftsmen in 2013 and tucked into a wooded lot bordering Strawberry Lake, just 23 miles north of Detroit Lakes, welcomes you to a cozy getaway right in the center of some of the country’s most vivid fall beauty. FALL COLOR TAKES CENTER STAGE Every window at our Strawberry Lake Cabin frames a kaleidoscopic view of trees bursting into red, yellow, gold and orange. This is especially true of the cathedral windows encompassing the entire front of the cabin—from the main living area to the lofted bedroom. The vaulted ceiling and knotty pine/basswood walls increase the splendor of this part of the cabin, which also overlooks glittering Strawberry Lake. Cozy up on the bench on the spacious deck facing the lake—a steamy mug of hot chocolate or coffee in hand—while the birds in the bright trees and on the mirrored water sing their last songs before heading south. Or, on a sun-drenched day, sear some burgers on the gas grill and enjoy them on the screened porch. Then have a bonfire as the late-day sun’s gold light filters through the trees. Did we mention the radiant, in-floor and wall heating? Nothing beats it on a chilly autumn morning, or when you return from a crisp afternoon hike. Leave your boots at the door and give your toes a treat! A RETREAT FOR COUPLES, FRIENDS & FAMILIES; MOREOVER, A PLACE TO REUNITE WHERE EVERYONE CAN SPREAD OUT Couples love it here at our Strawberry Lake Cabin. Experience the easy romance of tucking into nature together and shaking off the stresses of everyday life. Unbound lake views greet you in the morning from the cozy, lofted bedroom, and a clear Minnesota sky full of stars lulls you into a deep sleep. Plenty of autumn activities await active couples here, from hiking through golden forests, to biking lovely back roads, to exploring the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge (just 3 miles from the cabin) as animals scurry to prepare for the long winter ahead. Friends’ getaways—complimented by a bottle of wine, maybe?... find a wonderful setting here, as well. And families find a home-away-from home at Strawberry Lake Cabin. We have a highchair, a baby crib, and a washer/dryer for warm, fresh clothes for everyone mid-week. No matter who you’re traveling with, we highly recommend a canoe trip out on Strawberry Lake. We provide the canoe for you! And the water here is calm and peaceful, with less motorboat traffic than on many of the lakes in this area. Not to mention the water clarity: spring-fed Strawberry Lake is so clear, that you can see almost 17 feet straight down to the bottom! MAKE NEW MEMORIES WITH US There’s a timeless quality to Strawberry Lake and northern Minnesota. As the setting for many of my own happy childhood memories (and the place where I proposed to my wife), the woods and lakes Up North hold a special place in my heart. I love being able to share the magic of this place with others—at a cabin built by people who live here in the area, too. We’ve decorated the cabin with items that mean a lot to us, collected locally and around the world, and often leave a surprise or two for our guests. Our complimentary canoe may be the slower pace you’re seeking for birding, photography and simply slowing the conversation while leisurely paddling our nearby bay. If exploring or fishing the northern reaches of Strawberry Lake appeals to you, we now have the option of a 14 ft. boat and ‘whisper quiet’ 9.9 H.P. four-stroke motor available at a flat rate. If you’d like to capture the essence of that “feeling of premium” – a mist in the air or sheen that validates your choice to stay with us, contact us today to book your fall getaway! Kind regards, Don & Cheryl Aamodt, Owners P.S. – Are you looking for a laptop-friendly workplace away from home?... we have year-round, fiber optic high-speed internet.

Coffee cake 😀
With kids
Everything you need they provide and the relaxation of nature that I haven't heard and seen in over 20 years. Work and kids, this was a great treat for me and my kids. First vacation we loved Canoeing, my youngest love and catching fish of the dock. Well we all did.

My wife and I needed to get away following some bad news. Don, Gayle, and Les were amazing hosts. They responded quickly, were kind, and Gayle even brought over some delicious cake. This was just what we needed. We sat by the fire and looked out at the lake, mostly, and explored the Detroit Lakes area (we're not from around here). They set us up with a complementary canoe, but we couldn't get to it this time. We're forever grateful and highly recommend!

Lovely Late-Winter Retreat
We loved our stay at Don’s Strawberry Lake cabin. It is a beautiful wood cabin that is well-built and well taken care of. The large windows provide gorgeous views of the lake. The cabin is extremely cozy and has a very stocked kitchen filled with all the pots and pans one could possibly need. We were happy to stay inside relax, read and enjoy the lake views during our stay. Don and Les were extremely responsive and helped us with anything we needed. We felt so spoiled the entire time and would love to be back.

Beautiful cabin in a relaxing envir
My husband and I stayed at this cabin for our 1 year anniversary. Although all of the leaves had already fallen, it was still a beautiful and relaxing vacation. The cabin is very clean and comes with everything you need to enjoy your time. It is right on a lake, so you wake up to specular views. It is near lots of hiking trails if you want to get out for the day, or they have movies, board games, a canoe and fire pit if you wamt to stay in and do activities. The kitchen has all the basic essentials and even more like a waffle maker! We are already planning our trip back here again. Don't miss out on this relaxing place!!
