Mellow Yellow
Mellow Yellow the hidden gem
If you want a private, beautiful primitive camp site this is the spot for you. Next to a pristine creek where you can fish and swim this spot checked many boxes. Water, privacy, plenty of wood nearby (for purchase), picnic table, and tons of space! There is no outhouse so you will need to setup a portable loo (bring your own, or there are some for rent near the firewood). We saw eagles and a fellow camper caught a brown trout.

Island Blue
10/10, best Hipcamp in MN so far
GREAT spot! I may come back in a few weeks. Had zero mosquitos (9/1/24), the river was right next to the fire pit with a babbling brook, there is a wagon at the end, firewood for sale, a nice picnic table and a couple benches next to the fire. The space is huge, it looks like you can put 10+ tents here. The parking area is big enough for maybe three cars only. Absolute gem, like I said I’ll be back in a few weeks. Also this area is not heavily trafficked so you rarely hear cars on the road. Bonus, close to Welch ski hill and some trails there, as well as Treasure Island casino if that’s your thing. For blue site, host has made the trail stand out with a blue arrow. Blue site is the first one you’ll pull up on.

Green Canopy Cabin
Perfect for water lovers with dogs!
We loved staying overnight at the cabin, which is beautifully located up a small hill amidst a very green forest. The creek is what makes this place amazing (we found it easy to cross although it had a current, literally takes a minute or less to walk though it -you do have to wear water shoes/ rain/ muck boots, then walk up an incline). The water was clear, clean, and fun to wade in. We could hear the soothing sounds of the creek from the cabin, lulling us to sleep. The views of the bluffs are beautiful. The cabin is simple with several cots and has the added bonus of a mini screened porch with a door that can close (while sleeping we used this area for our dogs with the door open, so we could have some space to ourselves! Which was also convenient when it started getting dark because the fire pit is directly in front, and our dogs could watch us from inside, so we didn’t have to worry about trying to keep an eye on them in the dark). A really wonderful experience, we highly recommend!

Mellow Yellow
Really wonderful camping spot!
Our family stayed at Mellow Yellow and had a great time. The water was low so the kids were able to run around in the creek. The creek is mostly silt but they had a blast playing in the mud. You couldn't hear the water as much as the other reviews stated but it's probably because the water was lower. There were hardly any mosquitoes and there were shady spots around the campsite. Really great spot overall! There were no other campers when we stayed there. The only thing we ran into was someone had left a pair of shoes by the parking spot and we weren't sure which cart to use because there wasn't one specifically left at our site. There was also not a lot of firewood left for us to purchase but we did pick out the good pieces left and used those. I had messaged JT with some questions prior to booking and didn't get a response. Although he did message me about the firewood shortage and where I could buy some if needed. The spots are really nice and very much worth the drive there! We will be back soon! Thank you for creating such great camping sites!

Mellow Yellow
Beautiful
JT's property was private and beautiful! Wading in the creek was an absolute delight and the stars were incredible. Getting in and out was easy, there was a fire pit with a grate for cooking on and a sturdy picnic table to eat at. Firewood and Lugable Loos are provided!
