80 acres hosted by Mary L.
1 lodging site
We have an 80 acre wooded haven in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan only 12 miles outside of the beautiful city of Marquette. In addition to a peaceful cabin to stay in, walking trails to explore, and vast amounts of outdoor adventures to be had within a short drive there are other sites to view on the property if interested. We have the first US built apitherapy Hive House (best viewed in summer), an outdoor kitchen used for canning, cider making, and maple syrup, our own saw mill that provided the wood for many of the structures on the property, and a restored 1870's cabin among others. There is a short walk (perhaps an 1/8 of a mile) from where you park to reach the cabin site. Come enjoy our little piece of heaven. The Hobbit Cabin offers a quiet get away for those looking to write, meditate, or simply relax and enjoy the solitude. Outside of the cabin there are many walking trails to enjoy and other features on the property you are free to explore. Inside, it has two twin loft beds reached by ladder. A wood stove provides plenty of heat and a lovely atmosphere. There is a simple composting toilet and drinking water provided but no running water or electricity. Basic lighting needs are provided by a combination of solar lights, candles, oil lights, and firelight. While there is no kitchen or cooking appliances there is a small local restaurant 3 miles from our location. If you decide to bring a small cookstove for camping style food, please note that your hosts are vegan and while they accept that others eat differently, they do not want meat cooked on their property.
