Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Near Isle Royale National Park
Within a 60-minute drive from the Houghton Visitor Center.
We have 1 campsite located right along the Sturgeon River. River activities are welcome as well as forest dwelling, berry picking, hiking, and RELAXING! Fall asleep to the whoosh of the river, under the canopy of Maple trees. Our property has no running water, electricity, nor restroom (working on getting this). Fully rustic and a pack-in-pack-out camp. The river is ever-changing and must be treated with caution. All campers are responsible for their own safety with any and all property activities.Pitch your tent and enjoy a fire in the fire pit located on site. All fires must be in pits to reduce accidents and never leave a flame unattended—please extinguish all fires before leaving the property. The property is located right along the Sturgeon River. It is a beautiful river great for fishing and various water activities. Keep in mind that the property is located in a UP forest. Please be aware/plan for bears, wolves, BUGS, etc. The property is also roughly a 10 minute drive from Lake Superior. Silver Mountain is roughly a 25 minute drive. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is truly breathtaking, especially in the summer. We hope you enjoy it fully! Please treat the land with respect & love and practice a LEAVE NO TRACE camp style. We are new to hosting hip campers so please reach out if you’re needing any assistance. We are so excited to start hosting y’all! I was born and raised in the area and will likely be able to point you in the right direction when looking for adventure.

Sturgeon River Fern Forest
Remote, quiet, nature
Always a good time. Very remote. Lots of wildlife around so don't leave any food out.

Couldn’t find clear access to the river. It’s alright. But would have been nice.

Emily's place is great. If you want to get away from everything this is the place to do it at. I've been before and will go again.

Great site no rivers access though and sites where hard to find. Some signage would be great. Otherwise it was really private, can hear an occasional car on the road.

Didn't stay but the spot was beautiful. Another camper was very well scarey. So we left.

Exactly what I was looking for, nothing bad to say at all. If you’re looking for peace and quiet for a good price, this is the right choice!
