Bells Acres is a large property with lots of history! Originally homesteaded by a Finnish family in the 1800s, we are only the 4th family to own this property. Doc Bell operated his veterinarian practice from this farm starting in 1915, giving his name to the creek running through the property and the lake it feeds. The property features a vast variety of terrain for our campers to explore. Beautiful bluffs, ravines, wetlands, river banks, beaver ponds and much more can all be seen on our property. Wildlife is typical to a UP wilderness – deer, bear, moose, beavers, coyotes, waterfowl, upland birds.. You name it, it is here! Campers are welcome to explore the property on and off the trail. Bikers will find challenging terrain throughout the property. Enjoy total serenity as there is minimal “noise” around us. Just nature at it’s best! We are centrally located to many local destinations. Ishpeming is a 15 minute drive, and Marquette 30 minutes. Enjoy a ride on country roads to nearby Republic and check out part of mining history by visiting the Republic Mine lookout. Black River Falls is nearby and accessible by car, or take the trail on bikes. We are within 5 miles of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail and snowmobile trails. Wawanowin golf course is only 9 miles from us, and the Greenwood Reservoir boat launch is 6 miles away. Hike or bike our miles of trails through the property, and fish the Escanaba River at your leisure. Unplug and unwind with us away from all the hustle and bustle! We are excited to be your host and share what we love about Marquette County and the surrounding areas!

Check out this hidden gem...
We made last minute camping plans on one of the busiest holiday weekends and were unable to find anyplace with available spots. Happened to run across Bell's Acres Recreational Area, contacted them and lucky us, they had available sites. We arrived at the campground and were greeted by Ken, who owns the property along with his wife, Dana. Ken came in and saved the day by backing up the camper saving me an hour of taking repeated stabs trying to get it parked. Now, we were in an old popup, no water or electricity, but we parked in a site with electric, sewer and water. Silly girls, we thought yay, electricity, we can plug in an extension cord and at least make coffee and have lights at night! Yes, you guessed it, wrong plug! Not to worry, Dana and Ken saved the day by grabbing extra extension cords and getting us hooked up to power. We parked overlooking Bell's Lake and the view was beautiful. There are also sites by the river where we will definitely camp on our next visit. Dana and Ken were always coming through the campground checking on us and making sure we were having a good time or needed anything. We can't say enough good things about our experience. Thank you, Dana and Ken for a wonderful and relaxing getaway. And special thanks to the best camp host ever, Monty.
