Listen to the gentle brook and barred owls while nestled into the woods of Ashfield, MA on a small herbal homestead. The Kuti is a meditation hut which is perfect for sleeping in on a warm summer's night. It has large windows and screens to keep out the bugs while enjoying a cool mountain breeze. There is a newly built composting toilet on site and well water accessible. Visit the animals where our farm store is filled with herbal teas, tinctures, duck and chicken eggs, screen printed shirts, maple syrup and ghee. Hiking trails are on site, bike to town for a breakfast at Elmer's, take a swim in the lake 1 mile away or visit the enchanting Chapel Falls on Trustees land just down the road. Sweet Birch Herbals is a community herbal company offering workshops, apprenticeships, wellness consultations and hand crafted products including Full Moon Ghee. We grow organic herbs and ethically forage plants for medicine. Request a farm tour, herbalism class or any of our products for your stay here. Booking Rules and Information: - Check in: 3pm - Check out: 11am - There is only a thin mat inside so if you like cushion under you, bring your own sleeping pads. The dimensions inside are 80x80" Bedding is not provided: bring your own pillows, sleeping bags, blankets etc to be warm and comfy. - Bring all your own camping needs such as cook stoves, camp chairs, food, soap etc. - Ideal for a couple or close friends as the space is small about 6x8' dimensions. - Store your food in the car because we have bear visitors. - 3 gallons of drinking water provided by the Privy - No electricity or Wifi or cell service at the hut - For cell service the nearest spot is on route 112 near the school - Wood is provided and if you need more it's under the house deck. - Always put out fires completely with the blue containers of water when going to sleep or leaving the site. Never leave fires unattended! - The brook is too shallow for swimming so if you'd like to swim we recommend Ashfield Lake, Chapel Falls or DAR in Goshen. - Quiet hours 9pm-8am - No parties or loud music - Pets are family, and they are welcome as long as they house trained and well behaved. Please do not allow them on the bed. We don't have a fenced in yard so if they are aggressive or do not know recall, please keep them leashed. We have bears, skunks, fox, coyote, woodchucks, livestock and we would not want them to be in danger at any point. No more than 2 dogs are allowed at a time. I have one very friendly dog, Tilly. She will be with me while I am working on site Monday, Thursday, Sunday. - Feel free to visit with the goats and horse in the barn but do not enter their stalls or feed them. - Check out: take all trash with you, put out fire, message Hannah when you leave and please review the hut. We value your feedback! -Please do not enter the private residence, it is occupied by Airbnb guests. - Hannah lives about 35 minutes away, if you need anything, message or call her.Listen to the gentle brook and barred owls while nestled into the woods of Ashfield, MA on a small herbal homestead. Forest Hut at Sweet Birch Herbals
Such a lovely hut. Having firewood available was so convenient. I would suggest to bring extra fairy light to make it even more magical.

Forest Hut at Sweet Birch Herbals
The hut is perfect for a 2 people or an alone stay. The directions were clear and Hannah was quick to respond. We loved how everything even The privy was super clean and well maintained. The hut is in an amazingly beautiful forest with lots of oaks and hemlock!

Forest Hut at Sweet Birch Herbals
Lovely spot, unsure if reccomended
This is a very beautiful spot, a lovely hut with a great little shop and a very clean privy. Unfortunately, we came during acorn season (mid- August) and it was very loud in the hut. I would reccomend checking to see if that will be an issue during your stay. But, Hannah was a very kind and responsive host who helped us resolve our issue. The directions to find the place were clear and there were many additions that made the stay easier, such as lights for the hut/path and clean water to brush your teeth/wash hands. Overall, I would reccomend it with some reservations.

Forest Hut at Sweet Birch Herbals
Cozy hut
The forest hut is lovely! It’s a cozy space with mesh screens that brings in fresh summer air but keeps bugs out. The privy is also very well-maintained. The only downside is that the hut is a short walk from the house, which is rented out as an Airbnb. The Airbnb guests weren’t out of hand, but noise easily reaches the hut. And a group renting an entire house is on a different sleep schedule with a different vibe than a couple camping in a hut. All in all, I would highly recommend it if there were no other guests and recommend it with reservations otherwise.

Forest Hut at Sweet Birch Herbals
The Kuti was so cozy and comfortable. It was great feeling sheltered but outdoors at the same time with forest all around. The privy was clean and tidy and the fire pit was perfect. We had a great stay!
