Named “Favorite Hipcamp Site in the State of Maryland" by OUTSIDE MAGAZINE in 2020! The tallest structure on our farm is the windmill, constructed in 1874, and it quickly became the logo for our farm because a windmill is something that harnesses power for a specific purpose. For many generations, the windmill harnessed the power of the wind to grind grain or pump water, but now in the 21st century, Willet Family Farm hopes to harness the power of the outdoors to benefit every guest that comes to visit. The Willet Farm survived many hardships including The Great Depression, the 1999 tornado that destroyed the barn, and cancer that claimed the life of family members too early. In 2006, The farm had to be sold outside of the family, but in an effort to honor past generations and preserve the heritage of what the farm stood for (faith, family and hard work), Jeremy and Kathleen Willet purchased the farm back in 2017. The 13 acre farm is perfectly located in the middle of over 200 acres of farmland owned by parents and cousins. Since that time, we have welcomed over 200 guests from 10 different states and 2 different countries! We raise free-range chickens, board horses and are a Renewable Energy Farm completely powered by the sun through a comprehensive solar design on our barn.Recently named "FAVORITE HIPCAMP IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND" by OUTSIDE MAGAZINE! Located in rural Carroll County, Maryland, Willet Family Farm is in the middle of 200 acres of farmland, completely secluded from any other houses. Enjoy fireflies and the sound of bullfrogs at night, and sights of deer, ducks, horses and chickens in the morning. The campsite and farm are conveniently located on a backroad off of Route 140 (the main road leading to famous attractions in Gettysburg, Baltimore & Washington D.C.), so some road noise is expected, but thankfully the beautiful, natural tree parameter around the farm blocks the view of any traffic and helps reduce road noise. We purposefully have only one campsite for the whole farm so you have more privacy. Enjoy! *Please note that our county only allows one RV or Tent on a campsite per night. Good weekend get away close to home

We had a good time in our pop-up! Quiet, great sky and farm views. The kids loved Martin, the farm dog, and petting the horse across from our site. Lots of space on the site for the kids to play, recommend bringing kids scooters or bikes to ride on the long driveway. Very open site, not much shade. Hosts are super friendly and attentive.

Good view, but I want a refund...

I feel this is a bit like the story about the emperor with no clothes. Am I the only one to see and say.... I will say it's a lovely setting. However, as an old Eagle Scout that's spent a lifetime camping, I just don't get it. I do in a sense that I own Airbnb property and we depend on reviews, but we even occasionally don't get a good review, even though our property is a prime apartment in a historic major European city. I don't want to bash this property, but it's on the side of a steep hill. I've walked many roofs with less pitch. There is virtually no level spot anywhere on the gravelled area, or even in the grass. If you're tent camping you may want to consider it, but I still wouldn't. If you have an RV just look at RV pictures and make up your own mind. Even the Porta potty wasn't leveled. Strange. Someone else with mixed feelings said they had trouble leveling their car top tent. I'm glad it's not mosquitos season as there is standing water on messy wood tarps, and elsewhere. 10 minutes online searching how to cover a wood pile should solve that. No big deal. Water is pretty far, perhaps 250 yards. This was our third Hipcamp stay. Ironically one of the others is on the same street less than a mile away. The other was in South Carolina. Both were far superior in views, level, and comparable in price. I gave both rave reviews, which they deserved. This listing says they have garbage and recycling. You can view the photo and decide.
