We have a beautiful forested mountain that sits at the southern edge of the GreenRidge State Forest. We sit on top of the Paw Paw tunnel and have access to the C and O Canal Trail. We view this place has nature's forest that we are stewards of. We are reclaiming this land that was clear cut over a hundred years ago for an apple orchard and then used as a sawmill and car dump. We have a beautiful deciduous and pine forest with an incredible scenic mountain top that can view the Potomac River at one end. Each day we are working the land to create a beautiful back to nature spot for campers, hikers, bikers, river and travel enthusiasts. Currently we are suited for being a “bring all your stuff with you” camping as we are completely off grid.

We'll Be Back!
We loved this site and would love to return! I had no trouble getting up the hill to the site in my Subaru Forester, but it may be challenging for someone without much experience driving on rough terrain. It was nice to not have to bring water or firewood, and were happy with the other bonus amenities (especially the swinging bench!) The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and even lent us a pan to boil water in since we forgot our kettle.

Kay’s place was great and you can’t beat the price! The views were amazing. Great that you can hike down to the tunnel and river right from your site. Water and toilet provided. Super quiet! A few cars drove by to get to the tunnel parking but folks just waved. Large area with fire pit. Kat was very nice while checking in. Recommend for sure!

Hilltop Camp 1
Great, secluded spot on top of the hill. Tight trail to drive up to the camp, you're not going to make it in a passenger car, 4x4 with clearance is necessary. The site is a good size. Great spot for hammock camping. If you're in a tent, finding a flat spot might be more challenging, but doable. The porta-john was an easy walk down the trail to the other campsite and luckily no one was there when I needed to use it. It's definitely due for an emptying! Plenty of firewood and kindling to be found, bring something to split it. The stars were beautiful. Had whippoorwills singing to me in the evening and morning. Throughout the night you can hear dogs and other animals, but no sign that any animals visited camp. I hiked from camp to the tunnel trail and followed the tunnel detour signs to do a complete loop through the tunnel. Be sure to take a flashlight (not just your phone). It's super dark in there. I had a little trouble finding the place because my GPS brought me in from the opposite direction, but eventually found it, but an address would have been helpful. Overall a great place to camp and I'm looking forward to returning.

The Potomac view campsite was incredible. The lack of light pollution made for amazing night sky’s. Being adjacent to the state forest offered lots of peace and quiet. The on-site toilet is a big plus. All in all a great spot.

Hilltop Camp 1
Great Find!!
What a fantastic camping spot! The spot itself is beautiful and so well maintained and curated. With a picnic table and umbrella, rain water barrel, fresh water jug, trash can, fire-pit, Cooking grate, beautiful swing, rocking chairs by the fire, plenty of firewood to grab. This place is wonderful! They put amazing trails all around and you can directly walk to the Paw Paw Tunnel trail right from the campsite. So there was no reason to ever grab the car and drive anywhere. To get to this site, I would recommend four wheel drive for sure! But I did it in my jeep and a little camping trailer, and it worked great! Would def. go back!!

The perfect hilltop
Perfect getaway! I had booked the lower campsite but upon arriving Kat was great and let me switch to the more secluded hilltop campsite which was perfect for my weekend getaway in the middle of nowhere. Definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to make the drive up to the hilltop but I felt so at peace. There was a jug of fresh spring water with a pump waiting on the table and firewood waiting in the pit. I would definitely go back when I want to get away into nature.
