NOTE: GOOSE PARADISE, FROG NOOK, RABBIT RUN, and DUCK HILL (Parking is available on these four sites) NOTE: BEAR HOLLOW, SQUIRREL HIDEAWAY, AND BOBCAT ISLAND (You will need to transport your camping gear to these three sites). This homestead operates solely on solar power and is completely off-grid, featuring chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. Guests can savor fresh eggs, as well as vegetables from the greenhouse and garden, which they are welcome to pick themselves. Additionally, there is a natural spring-fed pond spanning 2 acres, where guests can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, rowing, and pedal boating with all equipment, including paddles and life jackets, provided on site. All sites are within walking distance of a very clean restroom, which is equipped with a flush toilet, a sink with running water, and a solar-powered light that turns on automatically. Additionally, there is an ample supply of toilet tissue and paper towels, and it also smells good too! NOTE: NO SHOWER AVAILABLE Each tent site features a fire pit and a picnic table. Guests can take pleasure in the hiking trails or venture into the woods to discover the natural beauty of this 25-acre homestead. Relax by the pond and watch for beavers, raccoons, blue herons, and even eagles. Enjoy the sound of the natural spring well as its ice-cold water is pumped to the homestead using solar power. Searching for and eating blueberries, wild strawberries, and blackberries can be a delightful activity. Savor the cool evenings by stargazing, observing fireflies, and listening to the chorus of frogs and owls. Witness the workings of an operational sawmill. Additionally, we provide blacksmithing demos and workshops, art (painting) lessons, and nature photography courses. Classes are available for a nominal fee. Conveniently located just minutes away are Home Depot, Walmart, various restaurants, shopping centers, Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, antique stores, the historic Downtown Ellsworth, and the ocean!!

Best Hipcamp in Maine!
Camping at Mike and Cheryl’s was not only the highlight of our trip to Maine but also probably the highlight of all our vacations for as long as I can remember. Beginning with the sites, you can immediately see the amount of care and attention to detail that has been put into the experience of staying here. Signs clearly mark the sites and amenities, the sites are clean and well laid out, and at night time soft cozy lighting marks the way. Details such as handcrafted signs and painted rocks makes wandering around the property a delight. The restroom is also the most pleasant restroom I have seen camping and even rivals some hotels. Being able to have a fire looking over the pond under the stars was a memory we will never forget. What makes the entire experience even better was Mike and Cheryl’s hospitality. They are without a doubt two of the warmest people I have ever met and they made us feel like family for the entire length of our stay. Their passion, knowledge, and life experience is boundless and anyone who has an interest in homesteading, smithing, or the outdoors will leave totally inspired. We added on a blacksmithing workshop with Mike and are sure glad we did. Not only did we leave with a souvenir but we also got an extra hour to learn a lost skill from Mike which itself is invaluable. If you are planning on visiting Maine, Mike and Cheryl’s is a must stop!! If don’t already have plans to see Maine, Mike and Cheryl’s is reason enough to come!

Bobcat Island
Great location nearby to Acadia National Park, still a half hour drive, but having close access to things like Walmart and plenty of restaurants is a fair trade off. None of the campsites were far from the parking. You still felt far enough away from other sites to have your own area. Flushable toilet and running water were great. I enjoyed the lessons on homesteading that Mike gave, even if you don't ever plan on having your own homestead, learning about how he built the whole site by himself is very interesting. I would recommend the site to anyone, especially at the affordable price.

Bobcat Island
Perfect Home Base for Acadia Trip
Mike & Cheryl have created a wonderful campground. It was the perfect home base our a trip to Acadia. Bobcat Island is an amazing little camp site that feels tucked away from the world and the pond on site was fun to take a boat out on. The bathroom facilities are great — running water! — and clean. Will definitely book this campsite in the future!

Bobcat Island
Friendly/GreatCampsite/Cute Animals
Mike and Cheryl were sooo friendly. The island was bigger than I expected and remote. The ducks even came to say hi!!! And Mike let us hold the baby ducks in the duck pen. I can’t wait to bring my friends or family here!
